Toledo Favored over SDSU
Looks like the Rockets are 1 to 1and a half point favorites to beat San Diego State. We will see. Toledo is coming off of a big emotional and physical game in Columbus. We will see if they can be ready, after flying across the country to play in San Diego. Recent Candle led trends would suggest otherwise (Middle Tennessee State and Colorado State). Perhaps the will and energy brought by Finn will overcome those trends, but I wouldn't bet on it. Even if the San Diego Chicken was quarterbacking for the Aztecs, I still wouldn't bet on it.

Chicken QB

I always loved playing the Mascot game in the video game when it was out

Very rarely do we see Rocket teams rally after a big loss or win. Considering we still don't really know what kind of team this is, I'm not predicting a W in San Diego. Is the D a top MAC D or just posing? Can Finn run for his life a full season? Can we run the ball at all outside of Finn? Add the long flight and Hoke's past with BSU (always a poison pill for us). I predict Flinn will be exhausted by the 3rd quarter carrying the team and we go down. 35-28.

Anyone else impressed how EMU rallied around their back up QB and took down an ailing, but still P5 team at ASU?

We havent had our ass kicked in a long long time so no, this isnt like CSU last year. Almost winning or winning a big game then laying an egg is different. We should be motivated as hell.

UT Players should be ready, but again SDSU is coming off a bad lost to Utah, they will be motivated.

I'm not sure yet if our D was basking in the over optimistic hype (#2 rating) or that bad? If you're truly a top 10 D you wouldn't you at least compete and keep it to 35 points? Hope they get back on track or all of the above mentioned obstacles might prove to be too much. I am definitely hoping for a solid win heading into the MAC!!!!!

SDSU backup QB enters transfer portal this week. Interesting development ahead of the UT game. Apparently got passed over in the Utah game by a FR when the starter got nicked up.

Turmoil in SDSU country. Perhaps this will spell UT success when playing them.

On twitter, I saw a bunch of SDSU fans calling for their HC and OC to get fired. So I guess this will be a battle of teams who hate their coaches!

Bets must be changing. I checked on Sunday morning (not sure which site) and they had Toledo +1 and the O/U was 46. I don't gamble, but that 46 was looking tempting at the time. Now I'm seeing Sportsbetwire, Vegas Insider, and Draft Kings all have Toledo at -3 and a 45 Over/Under. Just depends where you look and when.

Kent State is a 45 point 'dog to the Dawgs
CMU is + 27.5 to Penn State
BGSU is + 30 to Miss. State
Akron +26.5 to Liberty
Ball State + 9.5 to Georgia Southern
NIU +26.5 to Kentucky
OSU is -19 vs. Wisconsin in C'bus
Miami, Oh +7 to Northwestern

...and just as I'm ready to hit send, Judge just misses on #61.

SDSU statistical rankings:

3rd Down Pct 126

Red Zone Offense 93
Rushing Offense 24
Sacks Allowed 40
Scoring Offense 107
Passing Efficiency 128
Total Offense 116

3rd Down Pct Def 102
Passing Yards Allowed 98
Red Zone Defense 63

Passing Efficiency Defense 104
Team Sacks 86
Team Tackles for Loss 69

Cant call em garbage, or the Candle firers will get mad. Wouldnt it be more fitting to win, then come home and lose on HC? MAC West has been his problem. Not OOC really. CSU is the only favored loss we have had in his tenure OOC.

Random thoughts.

What a schedule for Kent State this season. At Washington, At Oklahoma, and now at Georgia. That's nuts.

Both Toledo and San Diego State will be coming out of games against last year's Rose Bowl Opponents.

I bet San Diego State fans have a bit of grumpiness carrying over from last year, to this year. They were so close to the "magical season" last year. They won OOC games against Arizona, and beat Utah in triple overtime, only to lose to Fresno and then Utah State in the conference championship. This year, both Arizona and Utah beat them to start their season at 1-2. Vegas is rarely wrong. I'm guessing Vegas feels that if Toledo can stop the run and Finn works his magic, Toledo will edge a struggling Aztec team.

Colorado State was not the only favored loss OOC game. Toledo was also 10.5 point favorites going into the bowl game against MTSU, 4.5 pt favorites in 2018 Bahamas Bowl, 7 point favorites in the 2017 bowl game against Appalachian State, and a 1 point favorite in the 2016 bowl game against Appalachian St.

At best UT goes 7-5 with this coaching staff

Give this same team to Chris Creighton and we go either 11-1 or 10-2

RE: Toledo Favored over SDSU
Well I have a glimmer of hope left for this season. Logical me would say SDSU 31 UT 17. However, the penalties are way down this year. So, I am going to combine the lower penalties, Finn, and the defense stopping the run into a 24-23 UT win. I feel like this is a really important game going into conference play. If Toledo bombs this, Hells Bells.

RE: Toledo Favored over SDSU
The troubling thing about Toledo teams the past few years could be summed up in this game. I'm betting just as many people would be no more surprised if Toledo won by 14 as they would if they won by 3. Similarly, they would also be no more surprised in they lost by 3 or if they lost by 14.

It's never a good sign when your expected outcome has a wade array of possibilities.
