Why would that matter? If he doesn't have a permit, and it appears he doesn't, then he was breaking the law whether it was his gun or not.

If he can prove it wasn’t his gun (unlikely) then he probably didn’t alter the serial. So it’s only one felony.

I mean it’s all well and good and I don’t disagree with you, but that’s going to have to be taken up on appeals after you get to rot in jail waiting for it. It would also likely have to be the Supreme Court that takes up the case because the Michigan state courts obviously would have had thousands of chances to overturn something like this if they were going to. I don’t know if Michigan has some of those automatic jail times for gun crimes laws. If they do he could really be screwed regardless of the circumstances.

Well, on the bright side for the young man .. if he's convicted with 2 felonies, his NBA stock ought to rise significantly.

My guess is someone in his posse will be the fall guy, in exchange for a nice payday.

I was just thinking that. If someone one does that, he needs to be dedicated 100% to basketball. Anybody willing to do that is an idiot because he would go back to being the same guy. I'm the guessing the reason he didn't like Memphis because he couldn't have his way and didn't like structure.

Bates is a really, really good player. He never left the AAU circuit when he came to Memphis. Wanted to be the man and took wild shots. I thought we were better when he was out. If he settles in as a team player, he has the potential to be a program changer.

My guess is his next stop is pro basketball (NBA or overseas).

He should get a special master.

But they can institute regulations. There are already a whole books worth.

"Concealed carry is legal for residents with a Michigan Concealed Pistol License (CPL) and for non-residents that are at least 21 years old and who have licenses/permits from their state of residency".

Until recently it was against the law to carry concealed without a handgun permit here in TN.
