LIB- 63
JMU-68
UVA-84
VT - 98
ODU-110

ODU not in danger yet for relegation, but W&M lurking within striking distance at 134. They win out and defeat a good playoff team, they just might qualify for promotion.

I sure hope Centeio is healthy enough to finish the season -- if we get a few wins under our belts, we'll be okay.

Thanks man. Pretty cool to see how quickly both institutions have surpassed (at least this season) UVA and VT.

I do wonder what Cig is going to do with Centeio. It doesn't benefit next year's QB to have Todd keep playing in a year in which we're not postseason eligible. On the flip side, Cig owes it to his seniors to put the best team on the field and try to win every game. My guess is that's what he does. Sure would be nice to give Atkins some more snaps this year though...let's hope for some fourth quarter garbage time (because we're way ahead) in the next four games.

Next year will take care of itself. The transfer portal will see to that. Winning now is the best guarantee that the best recruits and potential transfers will want to play for Cig and JMU.

If Centeio can play he’ll be on the field.

As for the rest of this season, if JMU has but one W left for 2022 let it be ODU. 04-cheers

If TC were available and not on the field so Atkins gets snaps, Cig's office would get bum rushed. I think even BA would say no to a brain diarrhea

ODU is an absolute MUST win. Not only a must win, but we have to demolish them.

I agree that if Centeio is healthy, he will play. He was playing with an injured shoulder so that should show how bad he wants to be out there.
Cignetti has made the right calls when it comes to QBs ever since he's been here. Next year will be no different. If he believes we need to bring in a transfer, I'm sure he'll do it. If he feels good about his QB room, then I don't think he will. The only exception would be if there's a guy in the portal that is just too good to pass on. That's entirely possible.
Look at what Cignetti's teams have been able to do with QBs. There's enough of a sample size now to show that this staff can really develop a QB and make them better. I'm sure QBs that are looking around are taking notice.

No, let it be Louisville. It will do us the most good and get us the most favorable press. Louisville just destroyed a Top Ten team (Wake Forest), 48-21. ODU is considered a peer. No big deal if we beat them. We are expected to beat them. Beating Louisville will raise eyebrows across the country.

No big deal to beat ODU? Because ODU is a “peer”? Wrong on both points.

I agree that beating Louisville would be a big feather in JMU’s cap, but losing to ODU would be an embarrassment. If JMU is competitive with Louisville, yet still loses the game it’s no big deal. Losing to ODU would be humiliating.

Charity should always start at home. Bragging rights and recruiting leverage within the Commonwealth makes ODU a must win.

Yep. Perhaps in the scheme of the national stage the ODU game isn't a big deal. But I've been waiting for this game for about a decade. They have been hanging their undefeated 2-0 over our heads for far too long. Before the season, there were games I wanted to win, but there was only one MUST win (not counting Norfolk State). That was ODU.

A little late this week. Maybe my enthusiasm has waned some as the Titanic is sinking out of sight...(nothing that an ODU win wouldn't cure though)

Updated after Week 10 for the Commonwealth's "Big 5". Just averaging the Sagarin and Massey rankings for the King of Virginia Title. Everyone fell back this week except Liberty, who has widened the gap between 1 & 2.
LIB: 57
JMU: 73
UVA: 85
VT : 107
ODU: 115

Updated after Week 11 for the Commonwealth's "Big 5". Just averaging the Sagarin and Massey rankings for the King of Virginia Title. Big shakeup this week as JMU returns to its' rightful spot!

JMU: 68
LIB: 69
UVA: 94
VT : 115
ODU: 126

And there is a strong possibility that ODU gets relegated out of the "Big 5" and either W&M or Richmond gets promoted. Both are right on the Monarchs' heels at #127.

I've seen every FBS team in Virginia this year. I'd say JMU is the best. Tech is the worst... Not bounded by good statistical principles obviously.

Nevertheless, you are correct, sir!

Just think, in 1999, they were leading Florida State in the third quarter of the national championship game.

Their fans are beside themselves. Already turned on Brent Pry.

Big News! There is a chance for promotion and relegation in the Big Five. W&M has overtaken ODU for the 5th spot. ODU still has a chance to redeem itself w/ a game against a strong South Alabama team. W&M enters the FCS playoff with a 1st round bye.

JMU: 66
LIB : 75
UVA: 93
VT : 103
W&M: 119

I just don't see that happening.
Plus, WM "should" win their next game and any additional wins will just keep them moving up. It would be absolutely crazy to see them ranked above UVA and VT, but entirely possible.
I always dreamed of JMU being the top program in Virginia, but didn't expect to see it so soon. I am quite shocked about Liberty being that number two team.
Stats like this do not bode well for the future of UVA and VT football. They have a lot of really good programs to compete with in the state. And those schools are better than them right now. It isn't just wishful thinking anymore. It's a reality.
