Big News! There is a chance for promotion and relegation in the Big Five. W&M has overtaken ODU for the 5th spot. ODU still has a chance to redeem itself w/ a game against a strong South Alabama team. W&M enters the FCS playoff with a 1st round bye.
JMU: 66
LIB : 75
UVA: 93
VT : 103
W&M: 119
*also receiving consideration, ODU 126
I just don't see that happening.
Plus, WM "should" win their next game and any additional wins will just keep them moving up. It would be absolutely crazy to see them ranked above UVA and VT, but entirely possible.
I always dreamed of JMU being the top program in Virginia, but didn't expect to see it so soon. I am quite shocked about Liberty being that number two team.
Stats like this do not bode well for the future of UVA and VT football. They have a lot of really good programs to compete with in the state. And those schools are better than them right now. It isn't just wishful thinking anymore. It's a reality.
Just wait until the CFP expands, and the first Virginia school to claim a spot is someone other than UVA/VT ... that could permanently relegate them to a lower tier in this state.
I'm honestly less excited to play them on a regular basis now. Once every 2-5 years is fine, but they really might drive down our SOS compared to other P5 options. SBC East > ACC Coastal. That's close to being an accepted reality also.

Easy peasy. I’ve suggested this before about someone else’s idea of promotion/relegation.
We move “up” to ACC and take a shot at their schedule, Frenchies or Chokies give the training wheels on the FUNBelt a whirl and we’ll see how it goes. Seems about right to me
Not looking, didn’t we just take more Fbs W’s than those two imposters combined? Or close to it?
Boogity, booogity.

That is brutal that ODU fell off the VA top five and replaced by W&M
I don't think ODU should have been bumped, they beat VT and half of VT wins came at the expense of Wofford

Not sure if that's the final calculation, but think these "computers" (Sag/Massey) got it wrong. ODU won the head to head. Demote Tech.

VT is the worst. FBS, FCS, D2, D3, doesn't matter. They're the worst.

Updated after Week 13 for the Commonwealth's "Big 5". Just averaging the Sagarin and Massey rankings for the King of Virginia Title. I'll let it play out for promotion/ relegation as W&M is still playing football. And Liberty is in a free fall, dropping from 57 to 93 in just three weeks.
But that won't change JMUs's coronation as King of the Virginia Big 5 College Football Teams!
JMU : 58
UVA : 92.5
Lib : 93
VT : 102
W&M: 121
ODU : 126
Unless W&M falls on their face, they get promoted. And ODU better start juggling the schedule to get VMI, Richmond, Hampton and Norfolk St on the schedule.

ODU just scheduled W&M in 2029
If they lose, do they go back to the CAA?

If we're still this bad in 2029, I'll be ready to go back to CAA.
