I will never participate in a Black Out again until the calendar turns to October.

Seriously. I continually wonder why the AD promotes black during warm weather.

High of 72 on saturday! Game is at dusk. Wear black baby!

Also, I thought the same as you. So I wore white to Arkansas, and it didn't make a difference.

The game will end at dusk, maybe.

It's only supposed to be a high in the low 70s. Fans should be ok in black t-shirts. Just leave your hoodies at home

The same reason they encouraged everyone to wear black vs Miami. Because the opposing teams (and fans) will be wearing red and white.

The solution is to stop scheduling teams with Red and White colors in September. 03-lmfao

I do not know what the complaining is all about, unless it is a Red Out it seems like the overwhelming majority wear black 99% of the time anyway.

It's after Labor Day. We couldn't possibly wear white.05-nono

But seriously, black is the best option when the visitors are in red. It's not like our fans get turned away at the ticket gates if they're not in black. And I usually see select attendees in black Bengals shirts/jerseys or black OSU or Metallica tees from Wal-Mart.

The overall effect is pretty cool, especially in the student section for our fans and national TV.

How about the ticket prices for this game on the secondary market. Highest ever for a non-conference regular season home game?

Do you really wait for the university to tell you what to wear? In a stadium that seats less than 40k, and less than 1k rooting for the opponent, would it really matter if somebody wears red and white in a sea of black?

Don't want to hijack the game thread so I'll post this here. I can't say enough how proud I am of my fellow Bearcat fans. I had a group of IU alum with me all day tailgating, during the game, post game, and not ONE ill-willed, mean spirited, or foul thing was directed at them. Even had a few fans come up to them and offer a few kind words and welcome them to the Nip. Which BTW, they LOVED Nippert Stadium. They commented how they were impressed how full the stands were at the end of the 3rd qtr, and said if they were at IU half the fans usually leave at halftime, win or lose. They were definitely jealous of the whole environment. Kudos Bearcat fans!

Bolded, nice hearing that comment. Any visiting fan is less than truthful if they don't say they're impressed. The stadium is a classic, the setting is unlike any other in college football, and the energy from the crowd is off the charts.

The second half was icky. But that can happen when you are up 4TDs at halftime.

Most concerning takeaways for me are the OL's inability to run block and the 10 or so 3rd and longs we game up all game.

I was sitting next to a group of 4 IU fans. As they walked in the guy said “wow, I guess I was wrong about how many people would be here.”

They were pretty cool, I really did not have a lot of interaction but the same guy did say to me he thought Nippert was a cool environment.

Coach Fickell has said on many occasions that it makes him physically sick to think that he was a part of his team running the score up on another team. That is why on many occasions he will come out of the tunnel aiming to put together a 10 play 80 yard drive trying to shorten the game by 8-10 minutes, and break the will of the other team. If you go back and watch the Houston game in 2020, that is exactly what UC did to start the second half.

It's funny, fans from afar will simply proclaim it too small. I'll go on record to say that a bigger problem in '22 are stadia that are "too big". IU is a good example. Didn't we help Indiana set an attendance record for a non-conference game last season? I've always been told there are thousands of empty seats there unless the hoards arrive from Columbus alternate years with OSU. There is no way Indiana can create the game day atmosphere we experienced yesterday. Thankfully, we had recruits from this region feeling the love too. What 18 year old wouldn't want to play in the Red and Black in the Nipp?
