I agree. He took advantage of defenders trying to strip the ball instead of tackling. And I didn't know he was listed at 6'3 so he's a decent-sized target as well.
With great speed. None of the receivers may be as fast as Calvin, but there seems to be more speed in the receiving corps. Fast guys like a QB who can get them the ball. Expect more speedy receivers from the portal over the next couple of years.

That's true too. Gibson and Austin had a great level of speed. The current guys don't seem to be at the level, but they don't seem to be Coxie-level either

Great effort by Scates, no doubt. But if that had been A State's receiver we'd be irritated with our defensive backs.
The crowd was already annoyed with our defensive backs from what I heard.
And our DB's were supposed to be our strength?
I thought they were supposed to be our strength. It could be the lack of getting pressure on the qb. I will never be a fan of the 3 man front.
We have - what - 4 sacks through 3 games? Our pass D problem is mostly lack of pressure. We've got some potential in the secondary, but they're not good enough to cover when qb's can get to their 3rd reads.

Even Deion in his prime or Lester Hayes with the stickem couldn’t cover with the time we give the other teams QB. I get why Mississippi St has a better line , I wasn’t born last night, but why is it Seth is running for his life half the time and the Arkansas St QB rarely gets touched ? Does Arkansas St recruit better linemen ?
We are -3 in net sacks(D - O). That is not good. Right now, it seems teams think the playbook is to bring blitzes and pressure to Seth. They are getting to him. But he is also making them pay with some big strikes.
On the other side, our new DC seems content to play straight up. I'm seeing few blitzes. Seems to be working vs the run, but not so much vs the pass.

RS teams have done this every year. He either doesn't teach some things or doesn't use them in games until later during big conference games. Then he has some blitz packages and pass plays pop out that there is no film on. I think he is trying to be clever. Maybe he is, but maybe he is overthinking this.

Thus far, we have had virtually no pass rush. In today's game, that's rather important. Our defense will continue to struggle until and IF we ever find a way to pressure the trigger man.
NO ONE in college has a clue as to how to play pass defense. It's obviously something they begin to teach in the NFL.

You know, I think you might be on to something here. So far, it really hasn't cost us anything other than an embarrassing half vs MSU. But it leads to early season frustration.

Were they ever called for holding? I saw quite a bit of that.
Yep. Also several pass interference no-calls
If they don’t call it it didn’t happen

Tackling seems to be a problem except for Quindell Johnson. Number 24, forgot his name looks to be a good cover corner. He deflected away a couple of long passes. We seem to do well when the other team false starts or has a bad snap

Hate to do this to you, but NT has only given up 2 sacks in 4 games. So prepare for watching their QB to have all day to find a open receiver this week.
