Pathetic announcing. Reminds me of the dumbest Olympic call ever when Eric Segal called the marathon. “It’s Shorter and Chirpinsky, Chirpinsky and Shorter. You won’t see one without the other until one of them pulls away!”

This guy offered nothing.

The camera work and announcers are provided by the University hosting the event, for most sports (other than Football) on ESPN3/+ so they were an OU crew. But he announced about a dozen times that OU had "moved into 2nd" even though they were in 2nd the entire race. Unnecessary info.

Rockets can't hold onto the lead, and come in 2nd for the 2nd straight year, behind Miami this time. Rockets with 54 points is 14 better than last year.
Mutai & Chesum came in 4th and 6th for the best Rocket performances.

Women's XC won the MAC Championships, placing 5 runners in the Top 10. What was the last MAC Championship for Toledo? Softball in 17 or 18?

XC won the MAC last season as well.

Softball in 2019 after an improbable run through the tournament.

2017, Football, Women's Basketball and Soccer all in the same year.

Of course, several regular season champs in basketball.

Meant an actual end of season championship. Knew they won the regular season and obviously blew it when it mattered last year.

Story on the UT website indicates men finished 9th, which is also reportedly the best finish in school history.

As for the women, Coach indicated in a recent interview that she thought they could still get an at-large bid to nationals as long as they finished no worse than 6th. Selection announcements are today at 5PM.

Noticed that. I saw the live results that were adjusted later. Congrats to both teams.

Women qualified for the NCAA championship. Great news after a slightly disappointing performance in the regional.

Not sure, but possibly previous teams UT had beaten were not running all of their best runners.

When UT beat some top teams in Wisconsin a month or so back, the scores were very close. It didn't take much to switch those results around. Also, Lou Trois was UT's third best runner all year long until the regional meet, when she was the fifth Rocket across the finish line. If she had been in her normal spot, UT would have finished a couple of places higher. Perhaps she was running through a minor injury or had a disruption in her training due to injury or illness.

TOLEDO, Ohio - The Toledo women's cross country team got the news it was hoping to hear on Saturday -- the Rockets were chosen as an at-large selection for the NCAA Cross Country Championship meet in Stillwater, Okla. on Saturday, Nov. 19.

The Rockets learned of their good news watching the NCAA Selection Show together in the Joe Grogan Room in Savage Arena on Saturday evening.

"We are excited and relieved to see it officially on the board. Now we can make plans," said head women's coach Andrea Grove-McDonough. "The goal remains the same, to finish inside the top-20. That would be a major accomplishment for our program."

The Rockets return to the NCAA Championship as a team for the fifth time in program history and first time since 2014. Sophomore Joy Chirchir represented the Rockets as an individual at last season's race.

Grove-McDonough, who previously coached teams from Iowa State and UConn that made it to the national meet, said making the championship meet has been her goal from the program since she became head coach at Toledo three years ago.

"It is the culmination of a vision that we had when we got here at Toledo in 2019," said Grove-McDonough. "It was a leap of faith that our student-athletes and coaches took when we came here. All of them that signed up for this and believed in the vision we had for what we could do here, what we could build. To see it finally come together, to get this program back to what it was, is very gratifying.

"Toledo has a history of being an NCAA Championship team, so we're thrilled and excited to deliver on that promise. I'm excited first and foremost for our athletes who have given so much and continue to give us so much, day in and day out. I'm mostly excited for them and for them to see all of their hard work, trust, and belief pay off. I'm excited about it and ready to get to Stillwater."

Toledo earned its spot at the NCAA Championships thanks to a sixth-place showing at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional meet on Friday. The top two schools from each region made the field as automatic qualifiers. Toledo was one of 13 at-large selections from around the country.

Toledo is led by Chirchir and senior Faith Linga, who crossed the finish line in fifth and 10th place, respectively at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional on Nov. 11. Chirchir and Linga also finished 2-3 in leading Toledo to its second straight Mid-American Conference Championship title in Athens, Ohio on Oct. 29.

The best finish for the Toledo program at the NCAA Championship meet was 21st in 2011, and best individual finish was 24th by Brianna Shook in 2002.

NCAA Championship Appearance Team Finish
2010 28th
2011 21st
2012 28th
2014 30th

28th in the Nation... We have some good non revenue sports! Tennis has 2 good teams. Curling and club fb is nationally ranked. Baseball should be decent. Golf is very good for men and women. What a time!
