I hope so. The school will be missing out on a lot of money if we are stuck in the AAC the entire length of the contract.

It would have been nice for the conference to get an increase, but what else could have been done? Who had the upper hand? No, it's nothing to throw a parade over BUT beats the alternative in my opinion.

Sure, until the next UCF passes the Tigers and whatever the new excuse for being left behind is rolled out. It was geography the first time, this time it was Texas legislature politics getting Houston in, wonder what is next?

Does that money have the same buying power as when the deal was originally inked? If not, it’s a paycut. When inflation was under 2%, the effects were negligible. They’re not now.

If you can’t understand this, there is a place for you in the Biden administration.

So if you place an ad in the paper selling a Porsche and you bring the buyer a Ford Taurus, and he pays you the same amount, you would complain about inflation? Again, VERY predictable from you.

Bonus points for the dumb political comment. 04-drinky

I understand the point and not to put words in 1987’s mouth but I think his initial response is to the OP making everyone thing everything is rosey when it’s clearly not. If we don’t get to a better money conference our football program is going to suffer and suffer big time.

Context is key. Weren't you worried that they would say that the conference lost 3 of its top 4 members, tear up the contract and cut it in half? I was.

The Taurus would now sell for MSRP plus 10k…

Wow, so now a Porsche costs 10k more than a Taurus. You are very clever! Maybe you became one of them Biden fellas overnight.

I think the car industry is beginning to reel it back in a little bit. For the past couple of years the 'chip' issue put such pressure on the available supply of new vehicles that it was - no negotiating off MSRP - it was MSRP +++ and then wait 3-6 months for your vehicle. This also caused used car prices to skyrocket.

Hopefully, things calm down soon and regress to / towards the norm....

I’m not sure they could legally do that. Maybe they could, but they also need programming for their streaming so where is can they go? Sunbelt? IDK.

No doubt it’s better than being cut in half, but just like wages, if the contract value remains the same, its basically a pay cut. No doubt it could be worse, but it the separation between the haves and have nots widens. Even

You could look at it like that, or like we got more money last year than the year before, Next year we will get even more money, and it will not stop going up for the next 11 years. It will go up less than it "might have otherwise", but WILL go up none the less.

Maybe I misread it, but what I saw was "in the same neighborhood" not the same.

The WORST thing about our contract is that we are the only conference dealing with inflation. Inflation hasn't had any effect on any other tv contract except ours. Talk about terrible luck.

You're comparing us to the wrong group. If you thought the AAC contract (with 3 top programs leaving) was going to NARROW the gap to the P5...then bless your heart.

The point is not the gap between have and nots - it is certainly getting worse. The point is that MANY here have been posting for us to join the MWC or the SBC - claiming their contracts will be better than the NEW AAC. They won't. Memphis will have a share that is one of the biggest in all of the G5. So, there is no reason to entertain thoughts of us leaving the AAC for some other G5 conference.

Yeah, the inflation argument is an odd one.

Well, there is some valid reasoning when you take into account the 12 year part.
