RE: AAC 2.0 Hoops!!!
So, Charlotte beat Appy St tonight. Remember all those Sun Belt punks who were beatin' their chests early in the football season? Quiet, like in an open corn field in Iowa. 03-lmfao

Hey Tiger1983...maybe it's not so bad as it is in your head after all [Kenpom rank]...

UAB 6-1 [36]
FAU 6-1 [67]
NTEX 5-2 [72]
Charlotte 7-2 [132]

Hoping Charlotte can keep it going. They sort of remind me of FAU last year where you could see something building.

Come on Rice and UTSA, we just need y'all in the top 200!

The CUSA adds are just fine. Notice I didn't post the current AAC teams. That includes my alma mater. Memphis has a 28 Kenpom ranking. The American is in good hoops hands.

UAB 6-1 [36]
FAU 6-1 [67]
NTEX 5-2 [72]
Charlotte 7-2 [132]

Rice......248
UTSA....320

Present AAC average: 106
Future AAC average (CUSA6 less departed 3): 135
Legacy AAC plus UAB and VCU: 115

My points consistently expressed are: 1. There is a drop off adding the CUSA6, 2. We could have done better by adding different schools, and 3. improvement is required. The data you presented does not change the validity of my points.

Also, it is too early to draw conclusions for good or ill using metrics like KP.

There is no doubt the new version takes a hit in basketball from losing Houston. But UAB is a good team and so are some of the others.

Is it too early to conclude that the bottom of the AAC isn't any good this year? Look, I get that the AAC isn't going to be the same after the latest defections and you can throw in UConn for that matter. The point is, most of the new adds are pretty solid hoops programs - more than you're giving them credit for. I would think Memphis [and the remaining schools] would want as many competitive hoops programs as possible in the conference - programs that are actually joining and not wish list ones.

You left out the below addressing your third sentence.

“Present AAC average: 106
Future AAC average (CUSA6 less departed 3): 135
Legacy AAC plus UAB and VCU: 115

My points consistently expressed are: 1. There is a drop off adding the CUSA6, 2. We could have done better by adding different schools, and 3. improvement is required. The data you presented does not change the validity of my points. “

It is early to draw conclusions about rankings. For example, Memphis starts a gauntlet of tough games tonight. Success will tend to elevate KP rankings. Failure will almost certainly result in a plummeting rank.

Also, one successful year does not mean a sustainable program.

Of course I want strong CUSA6 programs, but wishful thinking does not make it so.

Actually, it is about results from this season for CUSA members. The results are not transferable to next season.

Fortunately for Cincy, AAC basketball for next season does not matter.

Yes, it is too early. Note the swing in just two days.....

Memphis won last night by 16, but failed to pummel a bad team. It does not take much to surmise the impact had the Tigers lost.

NET should be ignored until February. Kenpom is far more consistent with what NET will be when it comes time to seed the tournament.
