Good stuff Coastal, had me worried for a bit there. Clearly the run D was excellent, I didn't watch much of the game but hopefully just a little flukey with the fumbles so hopefully you guys can cut down on those and get back to what we all expect from Coastal football

He’s right. And there were people acting like I was overreacting last week.
Sounds like Chadwell agrees with me.
This team looks terrible.

Don't even bother posting your opinion on the D on Coastalfans anymore. It's crazy how people just flat out to call out bad coaching when it's blatantly obvious.

Coastal after getting in a dance battle with Buffalo in the 4th:
Reminded me of the dance battle with Georgia Southern a couple of years ago, but without the flags

We are really banged up in crucial spots and definitely not 100%. That's pretty clear. We gotta figure some things out and put people in the best positions. A lot of things to clean up.

Yes, 100% correct.
And yes, some people overreacted last week, but then, they do every week.
Our D, warts and all, absolutely saved our _____ yesterday. I don’t care what people think of them. If they’re gonna give us a multiple forced turnovers (4 again yesterday), another less than 100 rushing yards against (59 yesterday)… Im gonna say “well done”.
That’s their job. Stop the easy yards on the ground, force teams to the air, balance the big plays yielded one-on-one with aggressive turnovers. They are not designed to be a 3&out team. That’s their job, get the O extra possessions… and Lord knows we needed them yesterday, after hacking the ball up 4 times in 1 1/2 quarters on O.
3-0. Not many can say it.

Keep burying your head further and further in that sand.
GW and Buffalo are horrible.
So since you think we are overreacting, here are some quotes from Chadwell and McCall after last week and this weeks’ games:
McCall: “to be honest, it was embarrassing.” (After GW performance)
Chadwell: “we played awful” (after GW). “If we play like that the rest of the season we won’t win another game.” (After both GW and Buffalo games)
The head coach and quarterback agree with me, not you.
Tell me more about how our secondary is so terrible because our D line is so amazing.

It's encouraging that we have a team that can find ways to win even when they are not playing well. Giving up 4 turnovers in the same quarter is absolutely ridiculous and a recipe to lose, playing any D1 school regardless of who it is. That could've went south really fast.
The offense is definitely a work in progress, playing with new personnel they didn't expect to get as many touches during the season. Still no excuse for that volume of turnovers but it definitely contributed. That can't happen. We can hope things are figured out and cleaned up as the season progresses.
The defense has to play better simply because we have better teams coming up on the schedule. The Gardner Webb game was a terrible showing from them but they did play better against Buffalo when our offense was turning the ball over like crazy. That could've really went south fast and we have to give them credit for that. As we play better offenses they will have to show they can continue to get off the field and clean things up as well.
As said, we clearly won't be getting a lights out defense under Staggs. We hope for it every season, but it doesn't appear to be happening. What I do expect is for them to get enough stops to give our offense who is still putting pieces together a chance though. That's very reasonable. We will probably need them a lot more than we have the last couple of seasons with the offense not clicking on all cylinders at this point.

No. Cause you (and, lol, Chadwell - since you’re apparently only regurgitating what you hear, guess not actually having your own opinion) are wrong.
According to you, we DID play like **** again, after GW, but… guess what? We won. So… shockingly… you were wrong. Again.

Define “not getting it done”.
Certain #s or stats you’re looking for? Cause if the D weren’t getting it done, we’d be losing a lot more games.
In any scenario… bad O/good D, good O/bad D, mediocre both… the equation for “getting it done” is ending a game with more points than the other guy.
In this “awful Staggs era”, how many times has that equation come out on the wrong end?
Never gonna be a shutout D. But… a D that feeds a proficient O extra possessions is “getting the job done”. Or gives up FGs while we score TDs, creating the need for more opponent scoring drives…
I’m gonna keep on cheering for the team, and enjoy the wins. There’s been a lot of them.

Way to take care of business . You may not like what you have seen the last two weeks but you won both games. Get those problems corrected and y'all could really make some noise.

Thanks. Coastal is going through some growing pains with a young team. It's hard to be upset with 3-0 but also know that they haven't played their best. Hopefully the team can improve each week because we'll need to be better to have success.
