RE: SBC vs Out of Conference Teams 2022
G5 Non-conference win percentages as of October 30

AAC: 56.1%
C-USA: 44.2%
MAC: 33.8%
MW: 41.3%
SB: 58%

All conferences have several non-conference games remaining, so these will change.

That said, the SBC and AAC are well ahead of third place C-USA, so those two leagues should finish in the top two in the G5.

Furthermore, these are the non-conference records of outgoing AAC members: 3-1, 3-1, and 2-2; collectively 66.7% non-conference win percentage.

These are the non-conference records of incoming AAC members/outgoing C-USA members: 2-2, 1-3, 1-3, 2-2, 2-1, and 1-3; collectively 39.1% non-conference win percentage.

AAC is trading 66.7% for 39.1%. Ouch.

C-USA, by contrast, is trading out six who are actually below the league average for Liberty (7-1), NMSU (3-5), and FCS teams whose performance is hard to measure. We don't know for sure if they'll be good or bad.

Conclusion:

The AAC is roughly even with the SBC as far as non-conference winning goes, but they are taking a massive step backwards.

C-USA, by contrast could move even further back, or they could actually step forward. The five they are keeping are doing better out of conference than the six they are losing. So while their stability remains in doubt, on the field, they might not suffer as much from what they are doing now. Remains to be seen.

The MACis just hurting. They are not gaining or losing anyone anytime soon.

The MW is having a terrible season by their standards, and they could be losing members to the Pac-12. They could also gain some Pac-12 members. Who knows?

But the SBC is a known entity. It's currently in first place and will be losing no one.

All that remains to be done is to have that elite team that rises above not just the rest of the league but above all of the G5. I think we know the SBC's future is the brightest overall. It's just that elusive NY6 spot that remains to be captures.

SkullyMaroo, thank you for compiling the scores of each game. Great work.

Since the AAC nabbed the Access Bowl, I’ll compare and put the AAC’s record in italics after the Sun Belt’s record in each category:

All Games (34-27) AAC 28-23
FBS (20-27) 19-22
FCS (14-0) 9-1

Power 5 Games (4-13) 4-16
-- ACC (1-6) 1-6
-- Big Ten (1-1) 1-2
-- Big 12 (0-2) 1-3
-- PAC 12 (0-1) 1-0
-- SEC (1-3) 0-4
-- Notre Dame (1-0) 0-1

Group of 5 Games (16-14) 15-6
-- AAC (1-4) 4-1 vs. Sun Belt
-- CUSA (6-4) 5-0
-- MAC (4-2) 2-0
-- MWC (0-1) 1-2
-- G5 Independents (5-3) 3-3
