Maybe if I had grown up with them I would feel differently?

BBQ only, otherwise Mikesells has the world's greatest regular chip.

Are you me? I love the Grippos BBQ chip when I'm in the mood, but Mike Sells is unmatched.

I have been living in Cincinnati for almost 25 years, and I just realized I have never had anything from Grippos but Grippos BBQ chips. I do like a good batch of Grips with heavy on the BBQ seasoning.

Mikesells the best?? Grew up with them, there are much better local chips out there in other areas outside Ohio.

This is my favorite BBQ chip. It's not heavy with the seasoning/coloration that makes your fingers turn burnt orange after just a few chips.

I've been holding a grudge since they replaced Hussman, but might have to break down and give them a try.

Can you elaborate? I only recently [the past year or so] tried Utz potato chips after my family had liked their pretzels.

Where was Utz from?

Grippos also has some other interesting chips like the Cheddar Horseradish and the Maui Onion. I like them both but alot of people couldn't handle horseradish which has a wasabi like kick to it. UDF stocks it up in Columbus at times.

Utz purchased the Husman's brand at some point and they discontinued the brand recently.

This explains why the greatest barbecue chip of all time has disappeared.

IMO it's the Top Hat beer of local snacks.

Ballreich's blows away Grippos and Mikesells. Unfortunately, they are tied to Univ of Tiffin and osu.

I believe Utz is from Baltimore. Use to see them all the time on my yearly trips to that city. No better than Grippos, in my opinion.

RE: UC Athletics and Grippo's Signs Deal
Growing up in these parts, our family always considered Husman's the best. I'm guessing Utz was just buying market share and shut down all production in Cincinnati years ago.

There were scores of local brands just like Husman's around Ohio, and the whole country I suspect, that have fallen to consolidation by Frito-Lay and others.

Maybe the microbrewery model will spread to the world of chips someday. Some entrepreneur will find the Husman's recipes, buy the name back from Utz, and do small batches selling for $10 a bag.04-cheers

Grippo's Cheese Nibs is where it's at. If you haven't tried them, you need to. Cheesy puffs with the BBQ rub powder.

Thank you. I don't remember Husman's down here in my neck of the woods.
