Their obsession with trumpeting that 35 year old book has long crossed over into self-parody. It doesn't mean anything. It was the completely subjective opinion of one guy, and even then, Miami and Vermont were thrown onto the list to make it unique and gin up some controversy. Does anyone think that Cal or Virginia even talk about it anymore much less make it the defining event in their existence? Does anyone think that Miami has ever been a better university than schools like Washington, Wisconsin, Illinois or Minnesota that were left off the list? I'll leave OSU off that latter list because they were just coming out of their forced open admission period that was the very basis for Miami's temporary "public ivy" glory. Look at what's happened since. OSU dominates Miami in rankings and admissions selectivity, so it's pretty clear that the mid 60s to the mid 80s were an abnormal deviation from the normal pecking order in Ohio.

Besides "Ivy League" has always meant more than simply academic excellence. It's also a reference to social cache and elitism as there are schools (Chicago, MIT an Cal Tech notably) that are clearly better than half the Ivy League but have never been seen as having the social cache for the wealthy and elite as have Dartmouth or Brown. And that social and economic elitism is everything a public university should not be striving to replicate, yet Miami craves it like a crackhead craves the pipe.

Miami is a garbage school that's been sitting up in that cornfield smelling their own farts and rereading their holy ancient public ivy text over and over for the last 35 years. It's a self-aggrandizing safety school for conservative preppy kids who want to join a frat and major in business while being surrounded exclusively by other conservative preppy kids who join frats and major in business. It's full of kids who didn't get into Illinois, Wisconsin, Indiana, Michigan or Ohio State and then try to use that yellowed, old book to convince themselves and everyone around them that Miami is actually equal to or better than the schools that rejected them. I may not like everything about Ohio State or everything they do, but I respect them as a university and feel that they provide Ohio with a solid, first class flagship research university, and would like to see a more constructive partnership between it and UC. I have no such respect for Miami nor do I see any benefit to UC to have anything to do with it. I think it's a joke of a school, a poor man's Pepperdine.

Rant over.

Can’t you just post this on the Miami board And send us the link. That might heat up the rivalry and give me some entertainment, But I guess they don’t have a lot of fans on their board probably. But I still think you should post it.

Thanks for the kind words - I'm still here, though my girl got a kidney stone this week and I had my bachelor party last weekend so I've been a bit occupied. Nevertheless, like a solider waiting to cross No Man's Land in WWI I've accepted my fate as a Miami fan to the likely result on Saturday. If we had a healthy Gabbert and played perfectly I'd say we have a puncher's chance, even if very slim. With a freshman QB it's even less so. Whatever the case, at least we have the hotter women and Oxford has Clifton beat hands down even if it's come a long way. Go Hawks.

None of this is true. Go Bearcats.

Also Clifton is right. I confuse you with the other Miami fan left on the planet.

You're right. And if we need any more proof this is no longer much of a rivalry, it's that we don't have an invasion of trolls and undercover Redhawk fans filling our discussion threads talking trash.

If UC fumbles the opening kickoff, turns the ball over on a couple of punts, and Bryant throws three picks in the first half, this will be a competitive game. We might expect one of the above (or two or three) and the Bearcats would still be odds on favorites to overcome that. My biggest concern for tomorrow's game? Parking. Especially parking at $70.

This is the time of year when the late, great Greg Ruehlmann would destroy the Miami wonks with humor and class. I miss that.

Mehring Way- closed between Freeman Avenue and E Pete Rose Way That is some really bad planning. Is there another entrance into the Banks parking garage other than Mehring?

UC ticket office pimped parking tickets. I bought one for CRG garage and now you cannot get in? Typical ticket office move!

Yep. I've seen some maintain the 2018 game that ended 21-0 was a close outcome because it was 7-0 after three quarters. They conveniently leave out the game was played in a monsoon. Our offense was playing extremely conservative to maintain ball security. I double checked the box score (including drive summaries) to confirm my memory and Miami only crossed mid-field one time and they barely did at that.

UC ticket office had nothing to do with this. Garages are owned / tickets sold by the city. UC just provided the quick link to find it.

Contact the traffic dept and express your displeasure. 513-352-2366

Love and Honor is a pretty good dude, it’s the Miami (Oh)! guy that drunk posts they are going to kick our arse every year (although I think someone banned him).

Go Hawks.

As a graduate of both schools, I have to admit after last week’s game I ate at the Clifton Pieology (Adriaticos was a long wait), and I could not help but notice how motley UC students are. But they aren’t self-inflated dbags like Miami students. After walking by the band, my brother commented that they were a most unattractive group of people.

As a former MUMB member you've basically described at least 80% of all marching band members lol.

I'm of the opinion that while UC's Big East move and drastic improvement as a football program since then is a major factor in where the series stands today, ultimately Miami blew it. Even as UC has become much better on the field since the Kelly era, it would've been mostly competitive since 2006 if we were still a winning program with a few great seasons like we've been through most of our program's history. We were dreadful in the mid-2010s yet almost stole a few games; we didn't, but in a universe where our admin didn't crap the bed after the Big Ben years, the past fifteen games probably would've looked something like a 5-10 record and somewhat more prominence (even if it wouldn't have stopped where you've made it lately under Fickell, which still would've left us a good ways behind).

Yeah, Big Ben beat Cincinnati in the three seasons he was under center [2001-2003]. That 2003 season he threw for 4,500 yards and 37 TDs against 10 interceptions. Miami lost the next year but won the following [2005]. It's been 15 losses in a row since and should be 16 in a row after tomorrow.
