It’s going to be both every year. Big XII’s non-conference scheduling mandate is one FCS, one G5, and a power 5 to go with 9 conference games.

The UC administration likes the Miami arrangement according to what has been reported by BCJ.

I don’t understand the issues fans have with this scheduling philosophy. There are going to be enough challenging games in conference and finding other MAC level schools to give UC what Miami gives UC is close to impossible. Right now Miami is budget friendly rivalry game that UC fans can attend every year and has been a UC win since the Big East days.

The b12 requires an FCS game?!?! That's insane.

We get two tune up G5s and a p5 before conference play.

I agree but we've be doing that already. Purdue, UCLA, Indiana, Boston College, Nebraska, Pitt are some of the recent/future ones. If we're keeping the "Miami-O" level school in our scheduling I would rather rotate in other schools on that same level. That's my desire anyway.

Honestly, i never paid attention to the structure relative to g5s/fcs. i only really noticed the p5s that were on the schedule. it seems like we are dropping one of the p5s when we transition to the b12 scheduling. i think that's a shame in that it would help us to schedule two beatable p5s after kicking off with a g5. That said, others have made the point about trying to schedule as many homes games as possible, and UCBearcatlawjd2 brought up an FCS requirement, which is both strange and unfortunate, imo; so i'm out of my depth at this point.

I don’t think it is a requirement but I do think the schools want to get as many home games as possible and playing a buy game against an FCS guarantees six and sometimes seven games at home depending on the conference rotation.

Watched Chuck Martin’s press conference from today and enjoyed watching him describe how we are a “different animal” than UK. He commented they had no shot to beat us last year no matter what they did because we were so much better athletically. He sounds like a fan.

Chuck's been beaten into a fan. Even Tommy Tuberville was 3-0 against him.

I would be happy for it to end BEFORE the 2029 season. The game just doesn't bring any juice. It seems folks my age and older [50+] are the only ones that have any memories of this game as a "rivalry." I could accept scheduling MyAMUH as part of a rotation of Ohio schools - similar to what Ohio State does annually.

Don't we get a pretty favorable deal with the price and scheduling? If so I'd rather just keep playing them. It's not like BGSU or Akron are going to bring any more juice

Yes, both Fickell and AD also like it. The 3rd key is it’s financially beneficial to us. This series isn’t ending time soon until at least one of those changes.

How is it financially beneficial to us? Please substantiate with facts not vague opinions.

https://miamioh.edu/_files/documents/ath...-years.pdf

Now I do think they should be able to get a much more one sided contract if they reup again but it’s much more favorable than one off home game. No one wants to do one and one and play at Marshall, Ohio, Toledo, etc. Those are all trap games. Like someone else noted BCJ has been pretty strong that basically everyone at UC is currently in favor of keeping the series outside some fans.

I just want Louisville back on the schedule but don’t see it happening anytime soon.

So, essentially we swapped out three games for "home" games at PBS. Miami is actually listed as the home team in 2018 & 2022 acting as contract agent and retaining TV rights. Cincinnati is listed as the home team in 2026 with similar standing.

The contract covers 13 years...

@Nip - 5 games
@Oxford - 5 games
@PBS - 3 games

Meh. I'm for moving on after 2029. No way MyAMUH is going to give up any games at Oxford.

Edit - Any road game is a "trap" game especially when you're a Top 25/P5 program. Shoot, we should've lost the game in Oxford a few years back with Fick and Chuckster gift wrapped the game to us.

I am a member of both the Miami and UC alumni associations and as a guy who owned UC season tickets since Moses wore short pants this game generally raises my heart rate about as much as watching Lawrence Welk reruns.

I can actually see Miami being the one motivated to end the series. They always schedule aggressively so that they can get buy money. For example this year they have UC, UK, and Northwestern OOC. FCS, two P5s, UC and an FCS has been their formula for many years now. Starting out 1-3 every year is just not a good way to get butts in the seat. They might be better served by playing a winnable G5 game every year such as UConn, UMass or Charlotte instead.

Miami's message board doesn't even have a thread about the game.

Love and Honor hasn't even stopped by to talk some ****.

This series is past dead.

Don't have a discussion about their USNWR troubles either. I guess if it's too painful to acknowledge and confront, they just like to flush it down the memory hole.

People are saying that Cincinnati is afraid? Let me tell you something, sometimes it is better to be thought of as a fool than it is to speak up and erase all doubt. Miami, you have made a mistake because the Bearcats do not play any games. They don't have to play games, because they can control the entire sport!

The Bearcats make players on other teams look like The Elephant Man. The bottom line in football is winners and losers, and the Bearcats have never been losers. Winning is the only thing that fills the pockets, and that's what this sport is about.

You see, we all do things differently. The Bearcats make their own rules. It is easier that way. As far as what's going to happen to Miami, start with the intimidation. If you're thinking about being intimidated, then you're not thinking about football. And then, just ask Kennesaw State what happens.

Its a shame that the MAC which has been known as the cradle of coaches hasn't been fielding as solid of football or basketball talent. I know Ohio bobcats had a decent basketball year or two, but its almost as if the MAC is a farm system for other teams (including us.. Pace and Bryant for example)

Midwest demographic trends along with way too many FBS schools in Ohio, Indiana and Michigan to dilute it further.

Ohio State and UC's rise the past 20 years has also hurt their product. Most of the MAC alumni have an inflatable Brutus Buckeye on their front lawn.

Does anyone know the longest current winning streak over an opponent?

OSU has 25 straight over IU.

Google search revealed Ohio State has won 26 straight but one game was removed due to self-imposed sanctions. Other active streaks:

TXAM 24 straight over TCU

Alabama 22 straight over Vandy

LSU 22 straight over Louisiana

FSU 21 straight over Dook
