Attendance: 17K. Students come out, community not as much

I'm not expecting much in this day and age, but 17K would be really disappointing.

Attendance will depend on how many Pitt fans come.

Students-towns folk aren't going to show up as if we were playing MSU for example.

If we get 20k that would be good showing.

Can't imagine Pitt will travel that well. They aren't a huge draw at home as P5s go and plus the Steelers play at home the next day.

Toward the end of article, it sounds like Narduzzi is grumpy about having to travel to a lowly MAC school’s stadium.

Narduzzis an a hole. He blamed last year's loss on his team not being excited playing WMU.

RE: The official WMU vs Pittsburgh game thread!!!!!!!
It's tough to predict this type of game.

On one hand, Tennessee beat Pitt in OT last week and Pitt was on possibly a 3rd string QB.

Tennessee destroyed Ball State in week 1, who we struggled with last week and beat by 7.

It's hard to judge but we will have to play a flawless game to be able to beat them, similar to last year.

Our defense will really need to keep us in this game.

We cannot afford to get into a shootout with this team, we will not win if we do, we do not have the offensive fire power and experience we had last year with Skyy and Eleby.

My guess is we will keep it close for a half and Pitt will pull away in the 2nd half and score will be similar to the MSU game.

But then again, a lot can depend on who Pitt's starting QB will be.

Let's hope Pitt's players have the same dismissive attitude of playing in a MAC stadium their HC does.

Yep, I was thinking the same.

Salopek also playing with a chip on his shoulder. Hometown Pitt came calling and showed legit interest in offering him out of HS, then brushed him off.

If ticket sales ended today, it looks like we'd be in the 16-17K range if students showed up, which they should. Endzones and Section A remain essentially empty. Hopefully there will be a surge in sales in the next 72 hours to at least get the attendance over 20K.

I'll predict 20,500 depending on how many Pitt fans come.

The University has a new digital ticketing service for students and they have to claim their tickets ahead of time instead of just showing up with their student id. Got a feeling this isn't going to help student attendance, especially the first game.

03-banghead Making it harder to get into the game doesn't solve attendance problems. This is what you use if you're consistently turning students away at the gate, not when you're trying to get more students to just show up.

Sad but not surprising I guess. We pre-purchased our seats for the Pitt game only. The great thing is that I will not have to spend a dime on merchandise at the Bookstore nor Waldo -- there is absolutely nothing worth purchasing under this rebrand!

Pitt's road unis for our game: https://twitter.com/Pitt_FB/status/1570475708383924224

For ours, I'd vote for these:

These are the best unis we've ever had, and with school colors. No idea why they did away with these.

Personally not a fan of all one-color - e.g. brown helmet, brown jersey, brown pants.
