I hear their fans are pretty awesome.

Nebraska will open up the check book. Their fans are fanatics. Their stadium sells out at 90,000. No eyeball competition from anything else in the region. Recruiting is pretty good if you look at the rankings [247 Sports]...

Just to add more context. Nebraska has been recruiting well, and I don't doubt with some more success those classes would be in the top 15. They might not be a destination for ELITE talent, but very few schools are in the conversation for those players.

Nebraska is a good job if they make the right hire. They likely never become an elite team again, but they could easily be a 10+ win program who fights for the NY6 or a playoff spot in an expanded playoff. Anyone who thinks the program is dead because of its location is talking out their ass.

The Solich firing was worse but there was other stuff going on with him as well. I don't think Nebraska has been particularly unreasonable with coaches. They've just made some bad hires. I think Frost was the only guy they hired after Pelini that made sense. Didn't work but it made sense.

Kinda. Frost has 1 winning season as a head coach: 13-0 with players he didn’t recruit. I understand why they hired him, but his connection to the school was a bigger reason than his success as a coach. That’s not always a great idea.

Solich's firing was terrible. Guy was as Nebraska as it gets - player, assistant, and HC. He lived and breathed Nebraska football. When he left as HC, I think he was top 3 in wins. He was 58-29 overall, 33-15 in conf, 6 bowls in 6 years, first 4 years ranked in the top 25, finished in top 10 3 times, played in a NC game.

Colleague's father-in-law is a booster at OU. Solich indicated the firing crushed him. Sometimes booster expectations are out of control.

Solich had a DUI when that was considered a "career ending" offense. That was the nominal reason NU fired him.

Scott Satterffield's seat now very hot as Loserville loses again. They had money and good Catholic schools.

Look for NB to come for KS coach Lance Leipold. If you can win at KS winning at NB should be easy.

Like much of the acc, Louisville is something of an afterthought for me these days. i watched part of the game and the offense seemed fine but the defense was getting shredded. if they decide to move on, it may be worthwhile to do so sooner rather than later. They are already competing against a big legacy brand and will likely lose out to them if they are going for the same candidate (although my guess is that they will likely pull an HC from a g5 or another lower tier p5 or give a shot to a big name coordinator from a p5). That said, would anyone be surprised if they were conducting another coaching search in 3 or so years?

Does it seem like Arizona, Arizona State, Colorado and Utah are doing whatever it takes to become unattractive to the Big12?

Poor institutional support. They were rocked by a rape scandal in 2004 and the university really changed the way business was done there, particularly recruiting. Colorado is not exactly a recruiting hotbed. Back in the glory days of Bill McCartney and Gary Barnett they brought in a lot of guys from Texas and California who they aren’t t able to snag anymore both institutionally and as a matter of interest from the player.
