(8:23 - 4th) (Shotgun) J.Burrow pass short middle intended for T.Boyd INTERCEPTED by A.Witherspoon at PIT 23. A.Witherspoon to PIT 23 for no gain (S.Perine).
If the Bengals kick (and make) a 46 yd FG there, they are down 3 with 8 minutes left. Their next series they got down to the 2 and went for (and failed) on 4th and 2. Had they kicked the FG earlier, all they needed was a FG there to tie. Their last series was the TD to Chase. Which would have been the game winner had they kicked (and made) the earlier 46 yard FG.
Granted, Harris getting hurt, may have factored into the decision not to try for the 46 yard FG.
Add 18 yards from the LOS. That would’ve been a 54 yard FG. Not a gimme by any stretch.
Forgot about the extra yards. Normally Mac makes 53-54 yarders in his sleep. You would think Harris' injury played a role in that decision. (I would hope)

Playing the Cowboys next week should make everything better for the Bengals.
The 'Boys looked horrible last night against Tampa.
And they lost Dak for the next 6-8 weeks in the process.

I think a lot of the play-calling criticisms are just typical fan "noise", especially after a loss, but this seems valid (if accurate):

I've grown to dislike the NFL for a lot of reasons, but my main issue is the roster size. The NFL only rosters 53 and dresses 46. Not a lot of room for backups of any kind.
I'm not sure what the real numbers are, but it feels like a team typically has 15-20 players on IR by the end of the year. So basically 1/3 to 1/2 of the players you started with are no longer there.
I'm guessing that's why every NFL team basically runs the same offense and same defense. It has to be somewhat similar/basic or half the team would be struggling to learn the playbook weeks 7-17 when they join the team.

Cowboys went from 2 point favorites to 7 point underdogs after they lost Prescott.
