MEN:

I think we can get a winning season by a slim margin. It will take chemistry developed this tiem of year to make us ready for conferecne play and latter OOC games. Height and size will hurt us but all the guys have the drive to be competitive so....

Women:
NOT SURE...let someone more familliar w/ teh women's team comment

We might end up this year with 12-14 wins. I would be surprised with more than 14. I say 12 because of the weak out of conference schedule.

We are a guard oriented team and do have some talent, but no beef. We are still weak at the point, as long as we leave McNeil in there. He still makes too many turnovers at crucial times. He is ok if he can pressure the ball, but Coach Stokes plays more zone with little pressure. Our zone has improved since the first two ballgames. Our outside shooters are better than what we dressed last year.

I do like our offense more so than Coach Herrion's, but Coach Herrion's defense forced more turnovers with less open looks from the outside shooters.

I like Captain at the point, Beale at Center/Forward, Rouse at the other forward spot, Hinnant at the shooting guard spot and Hammonds at three guard. We have to spot up Hinnant and Hammonds and shoot the three in order to upset some people.

Castro and Gagnon should have some minutes. Hart is a good rebounder and a garbage man for points. He is not scared to stick his nose in there. Gagnon has great fundamentals and i would like to see him shoot more from the outside.
McNeil can guard some folks and why not use him to front the opposing team's big man if they are going inside on us. I don't like to see McNeil with the ball in his hands when we have to have a basket. He does not do well when he has to think.

I would bring in King more just to open up the inside for Rouse and Beale. I liked what i saw out of our walk-on freshman. He played solid defense and boxed out well. He has confidence in his game, just needs some minutes.

Ingram will help us big time. I see Ingram and Hammonds sharing a lot of minutes. With all of these guards, i would like to see us up tempo more. But, that will require us to put more pressure on the ball with our defense, to create turnovers.

Beale, i think can score better than anyone we have. Rouse will get his, but Beale has more of an arsenal. He has better hands and it just does not take long for him to get his shot off.

I just don't see the entusiasm from either the players or fans that i saw with Coach Herrion's teams. But, I have already seen improvement on the defensive side of the ball that might spark some life into the team. We have 2 road games coming this week and that will tell us more about our team this year.

Go Pirates!!

Women-- We lost our scorer from last year and probably will not replace her, but i think that Mills will be our go to player this year. She has strenght and size and she should become a force. I like our coach and i think this year will be a good building year and we should see our share of wins.

Tuesday night should be fun vs. UNCG. The first basketball game I have went to in a while. I went to UNCG for my undergrad and ECU for my Masters . . . I think I am going to be neutral in this one.

Yeah, well, our class we got to re-take the Mid-Term (then he averaged our 1st and second grades together). No one in our class would have passed if it was not for the curve.

Durn all you people and your fancy learnin'. I'm gonna curl up with my B.S. and whimper.

If I'd known you were an accountant, GB, I might coulda hooked you up with the Controller job over at Beaufort Community College (yeah, it's govenment work, but it's decent paying government work) back when you were looking for a jobbie job. One of the heavies over there is a good friend of mine. That place is chock full of Pirates, too.

Maybe I'm a sadist, but I loved that class in grad school.

MBA here too. BS was in Business Admin with an accounting concentration. Straight up bidness up in this place!

Has to be. Guy had a helluva ego, but that was a great class.

Of course I don't remember half of it due to Floyd and suffering a concussion the following week playing football.
