Rice vs McNeese State
No thread on this game yet. I'll be there, and am excited to see the Artemis/NASA stuff and the new Rice Stadium improvements. Hopefully, I'll be a bit encouraged by the team's performance too.

Hope others can make it too. It will be hot and humid, but nothing brutal for September 10th Houston standards.

I may try to swing by the volleyball tournament a bit too just to tell my brother and sister-in-law (both Brown graduates) I saw their alma mater's volleyball squad.

There's an air-conditioned tent structure between the Waltrip dome and HRS that contains more NASA stuff. I'm curious if that display is for the general public, or is it only for select people/donors?

There's also NASA things in the Waltrip dome.

How much pre-game time should we budget to see the NASA stuff?

For those of us also watching this afternoon's volleyball match, we should have a good 60+ minutes between the end of the A&M-CC match and the MOB taking the field pre-game to view all the NASA stuff.

Channel 26 just had a piece on the early AM news about our new uniforms today, which celebrate NASA, the space program, and city of Houston. They look pretty sweet! Although it appears that the RICE on the front of the uniform is highlighted in TG-yellow. :(

Other than that very slight (and almost imperceptible stain), they look great and I hope the team enjoys wearing them!

Are the skies clear enough to permit the spelfie (space selfie) to be taken from a passing satellite at 12:06 Central Time (https://www.eventbrite.com/e/rice-univer...14120977)?

This article (https://thebuzzmagazines.com/articles/20...ears-later) says "NASA and industry exhibits will open for “Tailgate Owly,” including a NASA pavilion and the International Space Station mobile exhibit experience open from 3:30-6 p.m."

Possibly the A/C tent structure is either the NASA Pavilion or the ISS mobile exhibit?

The article also says this about Sunday and Monday:

Sept. 11, 11 a.m.-4 p.m.: Community Day -- NASA and industry exhibits will open to the public; exhibits will be at Robert L. Waltrip Training Center adjacent to Rice Stadium.

Sept. 12: NASA and industry exhibits will open to the public, 10am-2pm. The JFK flagship event will take place 11am-Noon. Keynote speaker is NASA Administrator Bill Nelson.

Was there anything from Rice about Green's injury last week? Is he starting today?

The Roost said on their podcast that OC Marques Tuiasosopo casually said that Green's early medical news was "good" but that he can't play this weekend. Without saying explicitly so, he's likely to be back later this season.

Green still listed as starter with McMahon as backup (seems the depth chart might be incorrect considering the above post). Freshman Rawson MacNeill replaces Cedric Patterson as backup to Rozner. Other than that the depth chart remains largely unchanged. So at the very least we stayed healthy against USC.

I don’t have a problem keeping our QB1 in place on the depth chart, the job is clearly his when he returns, IMO.
He moved the team effectively in three solid drives against a nationally ranked team, stymied only by one questionable call that led to the punt, and an on-target pass that would have been a first-and-goal, were it handled on the receiving end.

Love the NASA themed unis, and so do lots of posters over on the AAC board.

From my view in the stands not far from the play, I'd say: ... were it thrown with a little less pace, given the short distance to the receiver.

I thought I read somewhere a minor shoulder separation trying to make a tackle on the pick 6? Looking at that play, it doesn't look like he came down that hard on his shoulder.

If you want a bit of pregame warm up, Texas a&m commerce is also on ESPN Plus.

I was looking at their football website the other day. Coach Bailiff has populated his coaching staff with a lot people who have Rice Coaching experience.

Owls called for holding on 1st play from scrimmage. Sigh!

And there it! Toss back on 1st and 20!

McMahon is starting. Announcer said Wiley is indeed unavailable due to injury.

Hate playing FCS teams. Only downside, no upside. Best case scenario is you beat them up, but beating up an FCS team isn't even fun. Also greatly dislike that this is the first home game...can't imagine many new students were itching to go see this one.

Nevertheless, decent start offensively. McNeese giving our receivers a lot of space and the offensive line is getting a decent push. McMahon accurate so far (as I say that he misses McCaffrey for an easy TD).
