Cal Bap won WAC player of the week for both offense and defense this week. They went 2-0 defeating San Diego 2-0 in front of a crowd of 1,200 and Gonzaga 3-1. Cal Bap is 3-1 now.

Next up is Cal Berkeley on Saturday.

UVU beat receiving votes Northridge this week. They are 2-1-1 with a tie at #5 Oregon State and a road loss at #8 Washington.

I’ll try to provide updates from time to time for teams with few reps on the boards. GCU, Seattle, RGV fans, please feel free to keep us updated on your teams.

The difference is if you are trolling a thread or not.

I like to see the WAC do well, no matter the sport.

Seattle is a good team and will be a factor in the league too. They beat Notre Dame, one goal losses at undefeated #5 Kentucky, 3-1 Louisville, and a tie at 3-0-2 San Francisco.

Seattle is a good 1-2-1 team.

The WAC’s better soccer teams have all taken losses to strong teams the last few days. GCU had a surprise loss to Santa Clara 2-0. UVU lost bad to Santa Barbara 5-1. UCSB is 4-1-1. Cal Bap lost on the road to Cal 1-0. RGV lost to undefeated Missouri State 2-0.

Seattle was unable to keep pace with #4 UW and lost 4-0. I though SU might challenge more.

WAC men’s soccer woes have continued as of late. Few teams are having good seasons. The schedules have been mostly challenging.

Wrapping up non con and as we start league play, California Baptist leads with a 4-3-1 record. None of the other 9 teams are over .500. Not where I expected the league to be this year.

The WAC men’s soccer tournament champion is California Baptist, who will now represent the WAC in the NCAA tournament. As noted in the women’s cross country thread, this is CBU’s initial year of eligibility for NCAA championships. They have now qualified in their second sport.

CBU was the 5th seed in the tournament but swept thru and beat #2 seed San Jose State in a shoot out after remaining tied 0-0 thru regulation and 2 OTs.

CBU goes to UCLA, who has won a few championships in their time. However, out of the 4 Pac schools in the tournament, only UCLA doesn’t get the bye.

CBU lost to UCLA 2-1. The Lancers outshot them and had more SOG, but didnt connect enough. Good showing though.
