RE: If you're San Diego State and ...
Could the San Diego State and Boise State tempted enough? BYU vs Boise State do draw viewership. It could put the four corners on noticed that need to join now, or they will be locked out in the future. I think the Big 12 might bump the pay up for the Big 12 if they can get all the best on field and court product from both MWC and PAC 12 into the Big 12.

I'd take it, and I'd like it. San Diego State isn't angling for a P2 move someday, they just need to get into a stable power conference with schools that are too valuable & successful to be left without meaningful playoff access. The Big XII is more likely to still exist and fit that description in 10 years than the PAC is.

SDSU and BSU were both set to join the BIG EAST when it was starting to lose members so I don't think travel was a concern back then and the BigXII for the most part requires far less travel. I agree They would jump at it.

SDSU and BSU to the Big East were for Football only, both were gonna park the their sports in the Big West.

Nope. Houstonians care about the hometown schools about the same as UT and A&M. The interest in LSU, OU, Texas Tech, TCU, Baylor etc trails.

Chronicle runs a poll every few years. The results are consistent. Here are this year's results.

Respondents also were asked to list their favorite college programs. The University of Texas had the largest contingent of hard-core support, with 20 percent of respondents describing themselves as "very interested" in the Longhorns' progress, but the top draw across the top two categories was the University of Houston. Forty-five percent of respondents said they were very interested or somewhat interested in the Cougars, compared with 43 percent for Texas, 39 percent for Texas A&M and 33 percent for Rice.

This poll is 20 years old.

But UH is definitely #3 well ahead of Rice, LSU and Baylor. Nobody else really registers. The Chronicle would have the weekly TV ratings in the late 00s. Texas lead by a big margin. Houston was usually 2nd, ahead of A&M.

Back in the SWC days, UH and UT led the city in TV football ratings. The Big 12 changed that, and UH dropped behind UT.

We are open to be their travel partner anywhere and the good news is that we are both CSUs and we always vote for each other.

I can also remember all those proposals the AAC had to add SDSU and Fresno and also that moment SDSU and Fresno were in the Big East.

I already disagreed with their decision to go to 12 teams rather than 10 teams after Texas and OU left. But at least 12 teams enabled the Big 12 to split into divisions. I’m not sure what in the world the advantage of having 14 teams rather than 12 teams would be.

Frankly, expanding to 14 with SDSU and some other MWC team would just make the Big 12 look like even more of a Group of 5 conference than it already does.

Lowly G5s? You do realize that Cincy, Houston, UCF....value is likely higher than that of say Kansas State or maybe even Kansas. Bigger cities/markets, better tv viewership, brands, etc.

Just like Louisville value has WAY higher than Boston College or Wake Forrest.

Just like Utah value is higher value than Oregon State or Washington State.

All or those were G5s in the last 10-15 years. The newer G5s can have higher value than many long term P5s.

Just cause they are a newer addition doesn't mean they are the ones watering down a conference.

If the AAC was so valuable with those three schools then why was their TV and media deal so low? 7m compared to 30-40 M03-shhhh Higher value than Kansas. 03-lmfao

Houston may be in a large city but they are far behind Texas, A&M and likely LSU in that market.

Don't necessarily agree with what the previous poster said but a piece of why the AAC's contract was what it was, had to do with the fact that those schools were being weighed down by the likes of Tulane and Tulsa. Js

Also UH is squarely ahead of LSU in the Houston market but yes definitely lags behind Tamu and Texas (and I would say it in that order).

Would be nice to have at least one more from the West. Too bad UNLV is so bad at football and BB. Las Vegas is a popular road trip so the B12 would be adding two popular travel destinations. Fresno St. would be ideal, they do have good football thought their BB hasn't really taken off. Not a travel destination but they have a good fan base for football. If not them then Colorado St. Best if you could pry Arizona from the PAC. You could balance the 3 western adds by adding Memphis.
