Tell me if a G5 school or a lowly P5 school beat a top 7 school at home that they would go from unranked to top 12
It depends, how highly rated and regarded was that team coming into the season?

The REAL problem I have with this is how Oregon was treated. They traveled across the country, played [essentially] at Georgia, lost by 46 (admittedly, that's a lot), and fell 15 spots... so can we expect every SEC team who loses to Georgia by a similar margin to also fall 15 or more spots, since they don't have to travel nearly as far?
I was surprised Florida moved up that far, but that's not because of Florida or the SEC. It's because Utah is needed to stay ranked so USC will have a solid game left to play on their schedule. So, they dropped Utah 6 spots to 13. How do you justify keeping Utah that high? Put a Florida team sure to fall once conference play begins one slot ahead of them.
Polls keep interest in upcoming games and big moves usually hype things to come, or prop up those they need to stay ranked to help another media darling look strong.
IMO Arkansas and Cincinnati were better than Utah and Florida, so why no love for them?
Oregon got trashed and were then taken to the curb. I have no problem with proper refuse treatment. And if the Dawgs hang 46 on an SEC school they should be rolled to the curb as well!
Yes. Its a really bizarre take to think a team loses 49-3 and stays ranked.
Now Texas stayed ranked after a 66-3 loss in 1997 to UCLA, but that was just because the pollsters didn't pay attention. They dropped from the rankings the next week.

Rout 66. They also pulled a Rout 66 against us in the Rose Bowl shortly thereafter.

Yeah, USC has to carry the west, now. BYU is still independent, the rest are too low and Utah needs to win out. Not unlike the B1G being overrated in other sports.

What is silly is the Coaches Poll that has Utah ranked 4 spots higher than Florida. But, that's voting ineptitude more than bias.
Agreed on all counts.
When I voted for a main FCS poll, I threw out my ballot every week for the first 4-5 weeks and started from scratch each week, to try to eliminate pre-season biases and use actual performances.
Always got the "you shouldn't move them up/down so high from preseason", like the preseason GUESS is some sacred document.

Isn't it a little early to judge both Florida and Utah on one game?

SEC bias?
The defending PAC 12 champion gets knocked off by the same SEC squad that went 6-7 last year and fired its coach. The league went 13-1 this week by the way.
Sure, there's absolutely no reason to give the SEC any credit for any reason.

It's just the second week. The polls are going to fluctuate a lot.

You should really stop paying attention to polls.

Movement SHOULD be greater on Week 1 because preseason rankings are trash. That said, I wasn't so much arguing for Oregon to remain ranked as I was for future victims of the Georgia Bulldogs to be similarly punished - but experience tells me not to hold my breath on that one because SEC conference games "just mean more" (except to AP pollsters, apparently). We'll see.
AP writers know who their audience is, and they often vote accordingly.

G5 slipped out of the coaches poll, Cincinnati after their loss at Arkansas and Houston after their OT win vs. UTSA.

Yeah the PAC-12 didn't have a strong outing against the SEC. I think that is why Florida vaulted up in part. Also there is probably a smidge of SEC bias but they also showed at 13-1 this week they might deserve a little.
Not sure Ohio State should have dropped with a win vs a top 5 team though no matter how impressive the Georgia game was.
