What are the the thoughts of the non-Houston/non-Lubbock fans on this game? While I think both fan-bases would like for the other schools to give a ****, I’m not sure anyone does. Prove me wrong.

I’ll definitely be tuning in! I’ll be rooting for the team that has some red in their jersey.

I think it's a fun matchup. It's going to take some time, but I expect Houston's old Southwest Conference rivalries to gain steam in the coming years.

I am not sure about either team, I do know that raider fans are hyper excited and seem to believe their team is wayyyyy better than Houston, believing their own hype but then saying their fans will carry the day ?

I’ll be honest here, I’m not really aligned with the rest of UH’s fan base on this one. I don’t think UH or UTSA looked all that hot last weekend. A lot of our fans seem to think UTSA is really good and that they will win in Austin, but I think they start the year 1-2 with 0-3 being a real possibility (tough schedule).

I’m concerned we read too many press clippings this off season and forgot how fortunate we were to win 12 in a row last year. I’m concerned our oline will get their asses whipped. I’m not sold on our secondary. I totally understand why Tech fans are confident because I sure as hell am not lol.

I agree with UTSA. They are good team but I wouldn't be surprised if UAB or another team wins that conference. They are well coached though and their QB is solid and has experience. Houston/Holgorsen seems to start off slow in week 1 games and then pick up steam during the season. Case in point, Houston blowing a 21-7 lead to Tech in week 1 last year and then followed that L with a hot streak.

During the UTSA game I made the comment on the game thread on how I couldn't believe we were down at the half. Why? The first half of that UTSA game, Houston owned the TOP and were excellent on 3rd down conversions while UTSA was abysmal on 3rd and 4th down. The UH play calling was relying heavily on the mediocre run game and there were a few key dimes from Tune that were dropped that ended drives but Tune was still efficient. Houston also had 7 points on an absolute fire punt return from Dell erased on a bad call. UTSA scored 14 points on two big plays. The Harris 38 yard scramble and that WR 51 yard. Review the film. Good play by the WR and QB but piss poor tackling from the defense. The second half was a different animal. The D line ("Sack Ave") finally registered a sack and were consistently getting pressure. After that tip drill the offense started attacking. Tune adjusted and started using his feet because the UTSA defense focused on taking away the Tune - Dell connection and they had no adjustment for Tune running through them. That 21-7 lead quickly evaporated in 1 quarter. Again, Harris made two big plays on that last drive to setup the fg to tie it. 4 big plays was a significant portion of his production. Houston's biggest ? going into the season was replacing our secondary and they still are my biggest concern going into Lubbock. One thing I'm not concerned about is Tune and Dell. Certified ballers! biggest key stat from this game for me is Houston owned the TOP differential by a whole 11 minute including a whole 10 mins in the fourth quarter! THey started faking injuries because the defense was so tired lol
