Duffey released
Very sad for me, because I would watch Twins games sometimes just to see if he'd get in, but the writing was on the wall. Was not a good year from the beginning. Righted the ship for a few weeks, but then was not good at all the last few outings. Was clear that they didn't trust him anymore. Oh well. He was a good interview also.

He wasn't released, but rather reassigned to the minors. I'd be surprised if someone didn't try to pick him up through the waiver wire. It's worth a try for any contender who needs middle relief help (e.g., the Mets). Look how quickly Matt Carpenter rejuvenated his career after the Yankees picked him up. It happens. Change of scenery. New pitching coach.

Hope Astros pick him up. They seem to do a great job with their pitching staff.

RE: Duffey released
Here's a really good article on Duffey's likely tenure with the Twinkies coming to an end...

RE: Duffey released
When they announced this during the game, they immediately started the eulogy for Duffey, and pretty much everyone (broadcasters, players, coaches) said he was a good guy, but he just couldn't find any consistency this year.
Another player that the Twinks put on rhe DL today, which everyone says will also be the end for him in MN, is Sano. Guy is a strike out machine; never in shape; injured. Fans had given uo on him long ago. Even if he pulls another Big Poppy on us, I don't care. Buxton is the man for the Twins. Injured frequently too, but usually because he tried to run through an outfield wall.

Question RE: Duffey released
The Twins have released Duffey, per the transaction log at MLB.com.
edit: He was originally DFA'ed on Aug 5th. This today just makes it official.

RE: Duffey released
I suspect Tyler will be claimed by the end of the week. Does he opt for a contender (e.g., Yankees, Mariners) or a return to Texas (Rangers)?...

Does that mean Marwin Gonzalez looses his spot in the bullpen?
