In 2nd OT at Wyoming, NIU wins the more rested battle. No excuses there.

If the team that played in the EIU game shows up, we lose.

RE: Tulsa
I watched most of the game......Wyoming got some breaks with a blocked punt returned for TD and a defensive TD. Tulsa was the better team in my opinion. Tulsa QB threw for 450 yards. Tulsa looked BIG compared to the Pokes.

We can win this game next Saturday. It has to be a ball control and time of possession masterpiece. We can't try and have a shoot out with Tulsa. Their QB and receivers will shred us. Pound the ball and control the clock. Tulsa is not world beaters but they will be tough at home.

I'm less worried about Tulsa now. They lost to and gave up 34 points in regulation to a Wyoming team that lost 38-6 to Illinois.

Agreed. Wyoming had such tremendous turnover to what NIU played last year. While disappointed in the post 28-6 NIU execution , I still believe we are better than we were last year. Still optimistic.

It pains me to say it but Illinois looked really good last night versus Indiana. Illinois was robbed of a TD and should have won.

RE: Tulsa
Indiana is usually at the bottom of the conference standings. If Illinois is improved, that's a game they need to win.

But my goodness. How does Iowa only score a FG (their other 4 points were on two safeties) and gain 160 yards vs. FCS?

Wait....

They lost?

I turned it off with like 4 minutes left in the game. Illinois had the ball on a fresh set of downs and a 1 point lead.

Wow...

NIU pass rush and pass defense will have to step up big-time. Especially pass rush, in their QB's back yard the whole time. Agree ground pounding and clock control when on offense are musts. Pass to keep 'em honest. Can't look ahead to the SEC twins at all.

Agree that you cannot look past Tulsa at all. A loss against another G5 teams is worse than a loss to a P5 team in the respect category.

And if the defense doesn't play better, Tulsa will score 50+.

We can win with a sh!tty defense...we've done it before.

Granted, it'd be nice to get that shored up but I have literally no faith it'll happen. But we do need a passing attack and some semblance of a pass rush.

If we can make Tulsa respect the passing threat (even just a little) and our defense does a decent job of getting off the field on 3rd and long, we should win this game.

But those things I just mentioned were absolutely absent against Eastern Illinois and assuming they will all be where I'm asking them to be is kind of foolish.

Unfortunately, I feel like we're going to have to score 45 points to win this one.

Wyoming could not do anything vs. UI. Had 6 points, 30 passing yards. Puts up 400 and 40 vs. Tulsa.04-jawdrop

We should be able to score. But can we stop them through the air, as they put up 460 in the air? Their running game was non existent. Has the feeling of a 52-49 MAC game.

I guess another way of saying that is: Can we get a pass rush? I hope they let the HSK backer blitz regularly.

We got to EIU’s QB plenty of times. Just overran him or he got the ball off too quickly because of our bad pass D.

WYO is not the same team we played, they were major losers in the portal and more through graduation. We will learn more about our Huskies this week. Great game to see how we stack up for 2022. The West looks tough, impressed with the openers for WMU,CMU, UT and EMU.
