Also believes the Big Ten is calming down, they have the clause but might not be actively looking to expand.

Nothing is final until it is final. If no one knows for certain what the B1G will do in a few hours or a few years you really can't make decisions off assumptions.

So no I don't think the two conferences should merge because there is too much uncertainty with the PAC 12.

They could just hold the line. PAC stays the same. Big12 stays the same.

Both get mediocre tv deals.

I don't take a crappy contract and let OU & UT out with no money just to merge. The PAC is destabilized going forward the OU & UW brand will be diminished due to the league losing the southern California market. If the B1G is passing on expansion now FOX & ESPN can better utilize the UW & OR brand in a Texas based league than a northern California based league. The B12 will still have plenty of Texas viewers and Texas media covering it.

A BXII/PAC12 merger was declined last year and again a month or two ago. The first one was rejected by the PAC12 and I think this last one was by the BXII (although I could be wrong). Of course, circumstances change and what is good now might not have been the case a couple months ago. I would have to image the numbers will be crunched in the next couple weeks which would show all potential options that could garner interest from these two entities.

I honestly would be ok with that. I think its one way to guarantee that all our schools get included in whatever the post season the P2 (Big10/SEC) create. No way a conference that contains the vast majority of all the P5 content west of the Mississippi is going to be ignored.

You're not wrong. B12 rejected the merger this time around and the Pac has been trying to save face since. (It's why they keep targeting us even though it's the B1G that has raided them so far).

That said, I don't want a full merger with the Pac-12. I'm good with the 4 corners if they want to come (although, I'd be just as happy w/Arizona and Colorado). There's no chance Oregon/Wash come our way and I'm not interested in the No Cal schools - and they think they're too good for us anyway.

If we stay at our current 12, I'm good with that too.

IF there is a merger I'd rather see the BXII merge with the ACC.

I'd love to get some of the leftovers but Oregon St. and Washington St. are just dead weight.

This. We'll be able to get the schools we want without bringing in net negative schools with them. With it looking like the Big 10 is going to stay at 16 Oregon and Washington might be on the table as well. Especially once 2-4 of the four corner schools come over.

I don’t know if we’ll get any PAC schools to join, and I certainly hope we don’t merge, because some of those schools aren’t worth much. I’m not trying to be mean, just stating facts. If not, the PAC would have got a better offer from ESPN.

The playoff expansion likely just ensured both the B12 and PAC12 survive. Why leave either now when the champ of each is getting an autobid to the CFP.

First off if Pac was gone or a Hybrid of 2 Pac with x# of MWC schools you can have only 5 auto bids rather than 6. 7 at large is better for SEC and Big.

Agree, If Big takes 4 we need to do the same, I personally would be ok with all 6 if it doesn't water down $$ in extension. That would officially completely kill the PAC and make us #3 in a Power/A4. You then only need 5 auto bids in playoffs.

people that forget history need to be reminded that the Big 10 and SEC SEC SEC and the little sister of the SEC SEC SEC the ACC are not going to give a crap about what the Big 12 (and PAC 12) do in relation to the playoffs

they will not give a damn if the PAC 12 goes away they are not going to adjust the criteria for the playoffs based on that they will just laugh that the Big 12 was dumb enough to add very low value teams with a massive number of structural issues that will always have them struggling in the P5 of D1-A

taking low value teams and teams that mostly suck just to add more bottom feeders in the conference is just a really great way to add instability for your conference and insure that some members will always be looking for an exit or that your conference will always struggle because of a morass of bad teams holding you back and losing especially in the OOC and just making you look bad overall

Why in the hell would you want to reduce the auto bids? More access is better, not less.

Take 4 of CO, UT, AZ, ASU, WA, OR. First 4 only. The rest can remain with Tree University and CA in the new MW/PAC.
