I don’t see any reason why Cunningham won’t be the starter. If you check out his highlights, he is a good player and difference maker at QB. He is small, but quick and shifty and throws accurately from the pocket or on the move. He will be a problem for the Dukes tomorrow and really needs a spy on him to limit scrambling for first downs.
For one game at least, it is good that JMU’s LB’s and safeties are small and fast.

JMU lost 8 starters on defense (plus the D coordinator). This is my biggest area of concern with lots of inexperienced players needing to be reliable from game one. LB’s and DB’s have a lot to prove.

Not worried about the JMU offense. The loss of Wells is undeniable, but Greene will be more than an adequate replacement. That said, MT will have to first prove they can operate an air raid O right out of the box without making mistakes. MT’s OL is the same size as JMU’s OL, and if MT’s OL talent isn’t exponentially better than JMU’s OL, I expect our DL will pose serious problems for MT.
I read JMU may play zone this year because of the youth at CB. I hope that’s not the case, or they mix it up, because IMO zones are easier to dissect and beat by up-tempo passing attacks.

In summation, if JMU wins it will be because our running attack controls the clock, scores TDs (not FGs) and keeps the ball away from MT. Also, the standard no special team mistakes or turnovers and it will be a long day for MT.
