I saw an Urban Meyer sign at the Michigan Wolverines' Reddit. I assume it was not allowed then.

I wonder if ESPN would allow anti Herbie or Desmond signs. Then again, they aren't nearly as controversial as Urban.

of course it's also 2 faced by Fox as Urban Meyer signs were shown big time at Nebraska.

I nominate Kansas for Gameday next week. They have never been to Lawrence. They went to the Border War vs. Missouri in 2007 the last time Kansas was good.

Clemson? Seems like a been there, done that pick with Kansas and an undefeated Arkansas hosting Alabama on the board. I guess Herbie got sick of flying to the SNF game.

RE: 2022 ESPN College Gameday and FOX Big Noon Saturday Thread
Was different this week without Lee Corso and no headgear pick.

If NC State beats Clemson today, they would be a pretty good choice for Gameday (and Florida State-NC State is obviously going to be the SNF game). NC State last hosted Gameday in 2004!

Otherwise if Kansas wins again, Gameday can only ignore Kansas so long (and TCU just stomped all over Oklahoma so this could be as big a Kansas game as they get this year). Their next games are at Oklahoma and at Baylor it's not likely they will be undefeated when they host Oklahoma State Nov. 5 (although after Oklahoma today who knows?). The game is on FS1 though. This was the week they should've gone to Lawrence instead of wasting a week going to Clemson.

As for Big Noon Saturday... Bloomington! I'm going to guess they've never been there.

RE: 2022 ESPN College Gameday and FOX Big Noon Saturday Thread
Congrats to Gameday for finally heading to Lawrence!

Useless stats from the Wikipedia page:

Gameday has gone to Ohio State the most times in their history, 21 times in total. In second place is Alabama with 16. Florida and LSU have hosted 13 times each, and Michigan rounds out the top 5, hosting 12 times. Rounding out the top ten, Florida State has hosted 11, Notre Dame, Oregon, USC, and Tennessee 10 times. So in the top ten, we have four SEC schools, two Big Ten schools, and two Pac 12 schools (what West Coast bias?). Penn State and Auburn just missed with 9 times. Georgia has only hosted 7 times. I said Clemson hosted all the time, yesterday was just the 6th time they hosted. South Carolina has hosted 7 times!

They also list the most times they appear and bowl games count. Ohio State is still #1 with 54 total appearances, Alabama is #2 with 53, Florida 3rd with 42, Oklahoma is now 4th with 39, Florida State and Michigan tied with 35. Clemson hosted just 6 times but they made 30 total appearances. You can argue the better measure of a school is the number of times a school appears as the visiting team. When Auburn, LSU, or any other SEC school hosts, who is probably the opponent? My first guess would be Alabama. Penn State hosted Gameday nine times. Four of those nine times the opponent was Ohio State. Surprisingly Michigan has hosted Ohio State on Gameday just twice (Ohio State has hosted Michigan on Gameday four times). Since FOX started hosting the game, ESPN has only gone to The Game twice. Another reason Gameday doesn't go to Michigan-Ohio State often is because that is Rivalry Week while Ohio State-Penn State is a random week with fewer big games. Maybe one big reason Gameday finally went to Lawrence this week is TCU stomped over Oklahoma, making this game a battle of unbeatens. Gameday is more likely to come to Champaign if Illinois is good AND playing one of the Big Three than if they're good and playing Northwestern.

Among the most frequents, Florida State hasn't hosted since October 18, 2014. They host Clemson on October 15, if FSU wins in Raleigh they'd have a decent chance of hosting again although Penn State at Michigan is (barring a Michigan loss at Indiana) going to be a battle of unbeatens (Joel Klatt of FOX Sports said it will air on FOX however). USC hasn't hosted since November 16, 2013. The problem for them is they're already out next week, their next two home games are Cal and Colorado (which is a Friday night game anyway) and the last game is Notre Dame on Rivalry Week, maybe that has a chance but there's a whole season for both USC and Notre Dame before then.

Wow, FOX is really all in on heading to Indiana! I thought they would be like oh it's on the schedule, let's just go there and hope no one notices.

"Win Game Tix?" Has College Game Day ever had to advertise win game tickets?

ESPN makes it official:

P5 schools that have never hosted (that have made at least one appearance on Gameday): Cal, Illinois, Syracuse

P5 schools that have hosted (or will host) once, Future Big 12 schools included:
Stanford: November 12, 2011 (they've appeared 11 times total!)
Missouri: October 23, 2010
Texas Tech: November 1, 2008
Arizona State: October 1, 2005
Arkansas: November 11, 2006
Oregon State: December 4, 2010
Purdue: October 16, 2004
Washington State: October 20, 2018
Cincinnati: November 6, 2021
BYU: October 24, 2009
Kansas: October 8, 2022 (future appearance)
Kentucky: October 20, 2007
North Carolina: November 8, 1997
NC State: October 23, 2004
Mississippi State: October 11, 2014
UCF: November 17, 2018
Indiana: August 31, 2017
Vanderbilt: October 4, 2008
Wake Forest: September 12, 2020

Rutgers is on the double zero club, no hosts and no appearances at all! I don't know if there's any other P5's at the top of my head that are on the double zero club.

Syracuse is undefeated and their next game is home vs. a decent NC State team which if they beat Florida State could be close to a top ten team so maybe on Oct. 15?

Update:
https://twitter.com/bhofheimer_espn/stat...8534140928

"Cal, Duke, Illinois, Maryland, Rutgers, Syracuse and Virginia"

So Duke, Maryland, Rutgers, and Virginia have not only not hosted but not appeared at all.

So Kansas has been terrible forever, wins 5 games, & they're Gameday's pick?

It's the only matchup of two top 25, undefeated teams next week. On top of that, they like to go places they've never been when there isn't an obvious choice (see App St vs. Troy.)

There were two obvious choices before the season, the Bama/A&M game and Texas/OU. Ultimately, three of those four teams are unranked with two defeats. Kansas and TCU for that matter might not be for real but based on what's happened so far this season, it was really the only choice.

The App St/Troy choice was b/c they pick 1 G5 or FCS location a year.

Normally I post the best slam signs.

Today I post a nominee for the worst slam sign. I doubt Alabama is going to be losing any sleep over ... Kansas. And can you at least spell his name correctly?

So does Gameday go to Ann Arbor (Undefeated Penn State at Undefeated Michigan) or Knoxville (Undefeated Alabama, barring a Texas A&M miracle at Undefeated Tennessee)? They were just in Knoxville and it doesn't matter since neither game will be on ABC or ESPN. If somehow A&M upsets Alabama, they have to go to Michigan.

sleeper might be Salt Lake City for USC/Utah.

If that had been an ABC or ESPN game, I'd say it. But it's a FOX game and Utah already has a loss. If Gameday is going to a FOX game, they might as well go to PSU/UM when both teams are undefeated.

If Florida State beats NC State, I can see Gameday going to Tallahassee as Clemson-Florida State is their SNF game.

Pretty sure that it’s a policy that GameDay won’t go to the same location twice in the same season (not counting neutral sites like Atlanta where there’s a kickoff game at the start of the season and the SEC Championship Game at the end of the season). It’s almost a certainty that they’ll go to Ann Arbor no matter what.
