Personally, I don't think they marketed our 'First FBS Game' hard enough. Hell, the only real correspondence I received beyond emails was the 'send us money' snail mail.

I would definitely agree. This game feels absolutely historic to me, but JMU doesn't seem to have capitalized on that. Perhaps they did, but I just didn't personally see anything.
Most of the hype I've been seeing is coming from JMU fans directly, not from JMU.
Not complaining... just surprised.
There is still time left and I think a lot of tickets will be sold. I'm just not sure it will sell out.

I'm seeing some "First FBS - Home Opener" web banner ads popping up, including on this site. It's in Purple, but hard to see/read "JMU" in the fine print and might not be recognized by everyone.

I don't doubt that they are advertising... just that I expected to see it a little more in my face.
I remember the first year at new Bridgeforth the "25k Strong" campaign was done really well.
I will say, thank god I haven't heard "Big Boy Football".

I'm surprised as well. We're all very plugged in and if we're not feeling like it is marketing overload then imagine the average JMU alum who doesn't even realize we aren't playing Richmond again, like ever. Ever, ever, ever, never ever again.

One thing I do know about JMU people, they love to turn out for big events. You make this into something that is a 'once in a lifetime opportunity' people will line up to be a part of it.

There's no way you let a student not go to the game if they desire, and I don't mean by paying. Any game not sold out, you give students the opportunity to go, with the knowledge the ticket may not be in the normal student sections.

agreed.

incentive to get them to show early so they aren't stuck in the upper deck.

only problem with that is, college kids don't always follow the rules. they'll try and squeeze in the end zone, or hang around the fences instead of going to their seats in the nose bleeds.

good for attendance! bad for the Yellow Jackets working the game.

According to Mettlen, MTSU sent back some of their tickets. Not great for them.
Perhaps they could open up some more tickets to the students.
