UND bid 127k, Weber bid 41k

I’m curious if anyone knows - I assume you submit bids only for the opening round because the balance of games, starting with this weekend, are determined by seed, not bid. So did W&M have to submit given we are a #5 seed?

I'd assume every tournament potential team had to submit a bid well before selection Sunday

I would think that the only bidding for a home game occurs at the first round level. If you are one of the 8 seeded teams you are guaranteed a home game in round 2 and will continue to receive a home game in the quarterfinals and semifinals as long as you are seeded higher than the team that you are playing in those two rounds. The only possible area of discretion that I would think exists at this point is if two unseeded teams get matched up in a quarterfinal or semifinal game.

Bids must be submitted for each round with increasing minimums required. If a team is seeded and has not submitted a bid they are given an opportunity to do so. In 2003 Colgate did not submit a bid for the semis and had to play on the road.

Wow!! Can't imagine the upheaval here if we got a seed and were unwilling to submit a bid for the home game.

NCAA sharing the wealth? Get serious! They “share the wealth” mostly by allocating shares based on games played in the Men’s basketball tournament. They then give the lion’s share of slots to P5 and compound it with their seeding and venue schemes to ensure that mid-majors don’t win. Do you think W&M “shares” as much as Wake Forest or Northwestern? Should W&M join the MAC so we could partake of that lucrative Wednesday football cash cow? Then we wouldn’t need to beg so much. Lastly, I think you’re wrong that nobody cares about the student athletes. Hopefully W&M still does.

I'm not talking about the NCAA. I'm talking about teams playing on weekdays not the Tribe or other programs not involved. They know what they are getting themselves into, and it's all about the money.

The horse is dead.

Don't you read your own posts? Your very first line in the post that I responded to says: "Zorch, the schools under the NCAA umbrella share in the wealth too." (Bold mine). That sure sounds like you were talking about the NCAA.

Excellent timing today, also, about the influence of ESPN (see link below). ESPN has contracts with the ACC and the SEC. FOX has the contract with the Big 10. So today it was announced that starting in 2023 the ACC and SEC would have a basketball challenge involving many games. The ACC/Big 10 challenge ends after this year (after 23 years) and the SEC/Big 12 challenge also ends after this year (after 9 years).

The ACC said: "The SEC, led by Greg Sankey, and our partners at ESPN..."

The SEC said: "I appreciate the collaboration of ...the ACC members, along with our broadcast partner ESPN".

The leagues should be partnering among themselves and then offering the games to the highest bidder...but instead it looks like ESPN is the driving force. If you are not an ESPN league then you get short shrift (just ask the CAA).

It is comforting to know that the new administration is continuing this best practice. Thanks!

Week 2 predicted winners per Hero Sports:
W&M
Holy Cross
Furman
SE Louisiana
North Dakota State
Sacramento State
Montana State
South Dakota State

He picks two visitor wins over a seeded team: Furman and SE La. I think that’s about in line with historical results where 1 or 2 home seeds fall.

Not too confident in Sacramento State beating UR, to be honest. I am pulling for Weber State this weekend, though.

Talked to a friend in Iowa who is a huge NDSU fan, was asking me about UR, as he wants UR to win so that NDSU will be at home the next week. I asked him about Montana, he went on about how the Bizon should be undefeated, and that they will crush Montana. One of the nicest guys you ever meet, but get him started on NDSU football...........

The field conditions are absolutely awful in this Holy Cross /UNH game.

So much so that both teams are avoiding punting and going for it on 4th whenever possible

RE: FCS 2022
Really disappointed in UNH, not even trying to move the ball at the end of the half. Three straight runs up the middle, then a punt into the wind.
Then Holy Cross shows them that, yes, you can pass in the rain. The Wildcats will not win with this attitude.
