MSOC v St Mary's (8/28 - 3:00pm CST Kick Off)
The last time these two teams played, St Mary's came to campus in 2019 as the 10th ranked team in the country. The dominated play with a 5-0 victory.
Fast forward to today. The Gaels have an extremely young team: (12) freshman and (10) sophomores. Add to that (4) transfers so team cohesiveness could be an issue. Nonetheless, they come off of a fairly decent season last year with an 11-6-1 record. They are led by a well seasoned coach in Adam Cooper, a 4-time WCC Coach of the Year. This is his 17th season as head coach and is the most successful coach in program history.
While MSOC lost a few days ago, hopefully they can bounce back with a W today. On a comparative basis, our Huskies take more shots on goals than St Mary's and has a solid defense. As long as NIU can maintain possession of the ball more than St Mary's, they should get the win.

I'm not saying this was the cause for the loss, but the ref issued a lot of yellow cards to NIU compared to USF. NIU doesn't play a physical style game so I thought that was a strange stat. Hopefully they will not have as sensitive of a referred today.

Great rebound for the Huskies in a nail-biting 2-1 win at St. Mary's. Hosts scored two minutes into second half to make it 2-1, had a goal nullified, shot off a post, a shot off the crossbar, and a late header just over the net. Gaels rallied from 2-1 deficit to beat Niagara in their opener so NIU and SMC both emerge 1-1 from the meeting. However, Huskies now have a 2-1 series lead.

Huskies continued from last year with a very tight "High press". The Gaels outshot NIU 12/6 v 7/3. Luck on the Huskies side today
Was it me or did the pitch look terrible?!
