Poll: What do you think about electronic tickets requirements at stadiums?
I prefer it. Count me a sheep headed for the boxcar.
Meh, either way is fine. I'm a moderate who voted for Bush and Clinton.
No way - I will not go. I will sit home with my tinfoil hat and my rabbit ears tv.

My girlfriend and I had a conversation about this a couple of months ago. One of the many problems the homeless have is how much they pay for food when they are given money. In Memphis, the same as Montreal, a Big Mac value meal is close to $10 with tax.

That is a very inefficient, expensive way to get nutrition. I will be retired in 3-4 years. I would love to put in some money, get some money from the government, and hit up soup kitchens for food. It could be a mobile cantine or even a bicycle that is equipped to keep food and beverages hot and cold. I would do some of it myself and hopefully, get other volunteers or pay staff to also run some of the trucks.

It wouldn't be all vegetables and oatmeal, it would be burgers, hot dogs, fries, pasta, with cookies or chocolate for dessert, and bottled water or juice. You could probably squeeze 3 or 4 meals out of the same money that the value meal costs. For $10, you could for sure feed someone for an entire day.

I volunteered at the Union Mission here in Memphis for a minute. I was quite surprised at the amount of donated food. Chapel and then a full out buffet. Everyone welcome. I never asked about specific sources, but there were freezers and truckloads. No shortage of volunteers either. They’re doing good work.

I think you missed the nature of some of the complaints. It's not that I object to e-tickets. I don't. I do object to not having the paper option.

If I had a group of 10, it would be a lot easier to hand everybody their paper ticket and see them later in the stands.

All that would require is being able to print out the e-ticket. Maybe you can do that?

I went to the ticket office and made them print my tickets, for that very reason. Sometimes if I am out of town, I give my paper tickets to my son-in-law.

Very awesome. I think it is doable. Another reality is that the homeless won't come to where the food is.

A couple of years ago, I decided I was going to start handing out $1 bills to all the panhandlers I ran across.
First two times I tried, they asked if I had a 5 or 10 instead.
I then stopped altogether.

Different area churches sponsor certain weekends, and provide food and service. My church does it every third Saturday I believe. I've only been a couple of times, but they're well fed.

You can get to the QR code, but it's a challenge for the non-tech savvy.

Have been a donor for 30 or 40 years. And now they're telling me what I have to do with my phone.

FFS schools like Jackson Northside have gone to a totally digital ticket

Most high schools in Mississippi have gone to gofan

about 99% of Tennessee high schools use it as well

Sounds like a crappy app is the real problem here.

Oh, absolutely (and I'm an iOS app developer on the side). At a certain point, the app just basically sends you to a web browser built into the app.

Probably not as big a deal as teaching people to read.

I actually like having the paper option, and like how the tickets look, but I'm not going to become a rabid psycho if they aren't available.

Yeah, I get the digital tickets, but a digital parking pass sounds like a nightmare. Plus, since all of the parking lots are connected and we don't have hangtags, you can scan into Blue and go park in Gold or ANYWHERE you want.

Didn’t even think about that one.

Digital tickets are not bad. They definitely need paper tickets as an option though. One thing about technology, it's always gonna go wrong at some point.

I don't have a cell phone so this is the last year I will be buying season tickets for football. I have already paid the donation to TSF for basketball, but will not be purchasing season tickets. Have had season tickets for football since 1974 and have been going to Tiger games since the mid 50's. Guess I'll have more money to spend on my grand kids now. At least they will be happy.
