what's going to transpire? What do others think?

It sounds like the board is not yet set to end Tulane D-1A football but I am hardly convinced that this is meaningful for the long term.

There's no way to avoid that everything that's gone on/going on is going to impact on recruiting which will in turn impact on results on the field which will impact on attendance.

Moreover, there'll be the effect of playing on the road and the effect of disappointing seasons not ending in a coaching change (although my own feeling is that this staff's having endured the 2003 athletics review should guarantee that they get to be around as long as they want no matter what anyone says) that fans are clamoring for even now when one might think that common decency dictates that they give the coaches a break for now (however even if Tulane did want to make a coaching change there's no funds at all to pay off a contract and probably won't be for some time to come).

I suppose that I have few answers on this except...

My hope would be for the university administration to openly declare that they're committed to ride things out, rather to allow the program to twist in the wind, for as long as it takes with the eventual intention to invest as necessary into athletics, seeing to it that Tulane's program is on an equal footing with others, to ensure that the revenue generating programs thrive and don't just nominally exist.
