With Emoni onboard we could sell out a P5 game and give them perhaps $100000 to play here. Is that a reasonable purse for a local P5 visit (NW, Illinois, Purdue, OSU) . A sellout and special ticket prices of $20/head would cover the purse and overhead.

I like WMUs schedule:

@ Minnesota
@ Valpo
@ Dayton
@ Iowa State
@ Wisconsin
(tourney with Rice, Houston Baptist and Ga Southern)

Home games against Cleveland State and Illinois-Chicago and still 3 TBDs.

100k would get Purdue-Fort Wayne. 03-lmfao

I believe you are thinking football. Basketball games are not nearly as lucrative.

I think MM are in the 75 - 100K range. In football, a FCS team will easily get say 350K.

I'll try to get examples, esp. FB. P5 teams easily pay 1 - 2M to teams to visit.

https://www.forbes.com/sites/tomlayberge...f3be5d12c3

Yep that’s football where a contingency is around a 100 people to pay for travel expenses, hotel, food etc. There are some P5 that pay out as low as $450k

For basketball the scale is much smaller since the travel contingency is 1/5 of a football team. Paying $100000 for a basketball game is more than reasonable especially if a P5 is within bus travel (NW, Indiana, OSU, Illinois and perhaps Pitt).

We could also pay a local MM $50-$75k

would have made sense for EMU to move a game with WMU or CMU to opening night. With the rivalry, students in session, Emoni's first appearance,... it would be a great scene. MAC programs need to be creative with scheduling considering all the challenges.

Pretty sure the MAC offers 0 flexibility in that, however.

We could be a very visible team in the month of February if our team is playing well.

The intrigue of Bates joining would certainly help as well, but all I'm counting on is the team being good enough to earn those games.

Michigan game on national TV would've been very possibly a great recruiting game for young men to see how good E Michigan basketball is playing a big 10 heavyweight in Michigan! Without Emoni Bates, we lose by 25 plus most likely! Which does the exact opposite for recruiting! I wish this decision could be made before November 11th! Attendance won't have nearly as many EMU fans if he doesn't play! It's really ashame!

That would be nice if EMU is filling up the wildcard tv slots. Might happen with or without Emoni, we’ll see… would definitely be easier with Emoni.

We still should have a very solid team regardless of whether Bates plays this season or not.

This, we definitely agree on. Should be a solid team either way.

Yes, we should have a solid team! But Bates and Farrakhan will bring back the glory days! Without Bates, we might not win the MAC!

Just my opinion BUT I would like to see these guys play the early season without Bates. He is indeed a transcendent talent and probably would be the focal point of our offense. I don't think having the solid team we have now and adding Emoni's talents later could provide any better situation.
