Oka, after an easy start to the schedule, and mostly at home, Knights go on a east coast raod trip starting tonight in Washington, where we get to see how much of a mirage their start is.
Meanwhile, I'll bet you didn't know, and would never have guessed (I sure wouldn't have) that the Avalanche are dead last in the NHL for five-on-five scoring this season with a piddling 1.2 goals per game. Yup. Dead last.
And don't look now, but Oilers are heating up. In the four games since swapping out Connor McDavid on the top line with Leon Draisaitl on the second line center, they've combined for 10 goals at five-on-five and two against. Evander Kane and Kailer Yamamoto are now second line with Draisaitl, and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and Zach Hyman as top line with McDavid. So far, Edmonton is the Western team I'm most worried about as a team to beat. Luv ya, Blue! (just not so much in the desert.)

still...it just seems like something's off about the Knights so far this year. Not sensing that killer instinct yet or something. Will be concerned if this is still going on when we get into the meat of the season.

I think it's that their wins have been against not so great teams and their only two losses came against good teams: one at Calgary and one at home against Colorado. Their current road trip schedule is not very challenging as far as quality of teams they will be playing. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad they have won the games they have as you have to beat up on the bad teams, but to contend you really need to beat the Colorados and the Calgarys some as well.
Another win against a not very good team. For comparison: The Oilers, Kings and Kraken of all teams have scored more goals than VGK, and that's just in their own division. I know the Buffalo game will be good and tight because of the trade, but this lead so far is built on quicksand. Heck, 2 of the three best teams in the west are in the Pacific, and chomping at the heels.
Oh, and it's early, but right now the defending champs the 'Lanche are the last WC team in the West, and the two three-seeds right now are, ready for it: Chicago and Seattle! Okay, that very likely won't last, but, still, who'da thunk it?

Don't sweat it too much right now. It's gonna happen to all of us at one time or another in a season. Y'all are still doing well to start, as are we. I think you've played more good teams so far, though? Have you been to any games yet?
The Golden Knights closed a five-game road trip by improving their NHL-leading to 13-2 while extending their winning streak to nine, one short of a franchise record set in April 2021. Now back home and hopefully no letdowns against 3 more weaker teams before it gets tougher...

"Lanche beat the "canes, but that is understandable on the road against the defending champs....but WTH we lost to the Blues at Home?? They are pretty bad so far this year. Well, after 9 wins in a row...but still. Hill loses his first game in goal for us this year.

'Canes at 'Lanche tonight, should be a good one.
We get the Blues at home, should be a gimme, hope so.
It was till it happened. Not sure what has been up with us of late. Big 7-2 win before looking off again versus the Avalanche.
@ Blackhawks Monday.
Y'all took care of the Blackhawks in Chicag, but did you see the Blues also knocked off the defending champs? Maybe they're not as bad as their slow start indicated.
