RE: hoops schedule
Earlier this month someone in the Future FB Schedule thread mentioned that the delay is due to JMU putting together deals that tie basketball and football games together with the same opponent. Not sure how true that is.

Hate week for different SBC schools? I can get behind that.

Actually - I could see something really cool being worked out with that if it was a school like Duke, Temple, ECU, or long shot UVA ... fingers crossed it's going to be a nice OOC package of games with someone.

surprised this isnt done more often, but probably hard getting hoops and football coach aligned on the same school opponent. for us, makes sense to leverage football / hoops games, to get some return home games

Long Island will be playing at JMU. Meh. Not sure if the connection there. Hopefully the other home games have some juice.

I'm okay with the Valley Forge game at this point, but not if it's in addition to one of the local DIII schools. We should be done with playing two sub DI teams in a season.

exactly, we better not see Bridgewater or EMU on the skej now, or Carlow or Limestone or Alice Lloyd either!

Plus, when we and the Sun Belt are trying to improve our reputations, probably not a good idea to pad our schedule with a bunch of cupcakes. A weak SoS hurts everyone in the conference and not sure that's what they want right now.

seriously...we should play anyone above us in RPI - these young men don't need moral-boosting blowouts and they won't be devastated by a loss to the bigger boys

RE: hoops schedule
You are actually better off scheduling a D2 than a crappy MEAC 300+ rpi team that hurts your metrics even if you win, because the D2 team doesn’t count in the numbers.

Speaking of MEAC... didn't a subpar Coppin State destroy us in the last several years? I seemed to have blocked that out of my memory and have no recall of such an incident.

JMU basketball is emerging from a long, long slumber. Up until three years ago, we were always the new car on the dealer lot. Step onto the court and our RPI immediately fell 200 index points.

11/29/18 JMU won 81-71 in OT
11/26/19 Coppin won 94-78

both were under Lou Rowe so there's that....

Yep. But we weren’t in any position ourselves to care about the metrics.

I feel we are obviously trending upwards as a program and have teams that will care about the computer printouts.

So if we are going to schedule crap “tune up” games, which everyone does, I’m honestly ok with it being a D2 that doesn’t show up on the computer formulas instead of a D1 300+ MEAC squad that kills your RPI and shows up as an anchor Quad 4 win in the NET.
