Soccer @ SMU
We took the lead early then had a chance to go up 2-0 on a red card penalty. The SMU keeper saved the penalty shot. Ponies scored the equalizer in the first half then pulled ahead in the second - all their scoring coming a player down. SMU has kept possession most of the game and has a big lead on shots and corners. We seem really disorganized

Final 2-1 Mustangs. We need to figure out a way to keep possession better and then make better shots.

The penalty shot looked wierd, like it wasn't hit solid

Agreed. None of our shots looked all that strong

Oof - losing a 1-0 lead while up a player... That hurts.

SMU just look more mature and stronger but comes with age too I guess.

Samford 1 Rice 0

Rice gave up a goal late in the match.

Is this disappointing or we ranked lower ? Seems like this was the same trend as last year, emphasize defense and score just enough to stay ahead.

It's disappointing in that if we wanted any chance of an at-large bid we have to win some of these matches. Both SMU and Samford are ranked/getting votes. Now it makes it more difficult and more likely already putting Rice in a position in that we have to win the auto-bid.

We seem to have more injuries in soccer than just about in any other sport. I see Serena Pham hasn't played in either game, and Delaney Schultz didn't play yesterday (although she did play in the opener at SMU). Hopefully, neither are seriously hurt.

Soccer frequently has surprisingly high injury rates.

At the high school boys level, rugby (which is generally thought of as a much more violent sport) and soccer have virtually the same injury rates.

After losing the first three, we've now won 2 in a row, shutting out HBU tonight 1-0.

Rice looses again to Texas State 2-1. What's going on
with the soccer team ? They looked lost and no energy.

Well, the conference season began better with a 2-1 win at UTSA. Maybe the Owls will forget about their NC woes, and get it together now in conference play.

Yea! Thanks for the great news!

I will say though, your optimism in this case exceeds even my often skewed view of things.
