This is a realistic prediction. I think many assume EMU will win by 30 because EKU is an FCS school but that will not likely be the case. EKU is not MVSU.

It never amazes me how stupid some athletes can be. What kind of wealth do you think one can obtain from robbing a postal worker? Why does it always seem to be either football or basketball players? I don't know of ever hearing of a collegiate swimmer, soccer player, etc. robbing someone.
I think he may have wanted to steal some Bed Bath and Beyond coupons. Just maybe???
Ken, this is an issue of demographics. The BEST football and basketball players often come from inner-city populations where incomes are low and subsequently crime is high. You mentioned swimming and soccer. When was the last time a major city like Chicago or Detroit produced a quality HS team in those sports? Never, as those are endeavors dominated by wealthier suburban and out-state communities with low crime rates due to high family incomes.
There is indeed an obvious racial element here, but I think it is far more due to income. The collegiate swimmer or soccer player just calls Mommy and Daddy for more $$$, the BB or FB player from less privileged circumstances does not have that option.

Dear Jerry,
I don't disagree with your statement of demographics, however, it sounds like you are using that as acceptable behavior.
My comment in regard to amazement had to do with two things. First, are you really hurting for a life without funds, and if you are, go where the funds are located, banks, not postal workers.
I am a Detroit high school product, and it is ancient history, but my high school won many city championships in swimming, with many members going on to college scholarships in that sport.

RE: Eastern Michigan vs Eastern Kentucky
Dear Friends,
I'm going with the Hurons for this game with Eastern Kentucky. After watching some of the games this past weekend, some of the teams seemed very weak, and maybe it was just first game unknowns.
So, I'm hoping we get our first win ever against Eastern Kentucky.
By the way, does anyone know what we give as a payout to a team like Eastern Kentucky?

Hello EMU Fans.
The transfer portal has put a whole different slant to pre-season predictions, loss of good/star players and those you bring in may or may not pan out. We had a rude awakening in transfers in the player who was arrested last week. Never played a down for EKU and committed the "deed" in New Mexico before he even stepped on the EKU campus. Sadly, we will take the black eye for his (accused) crime.
As far as the game is concerned. We shall see if Walt Wells is up to the job (3rd year) he was hired for and that is bring our football program back to the top of FCS where it once was. We are text book for what bad hires will do to your programs, we have had several in both basketball and football the past 10-15 years.
GO Eastern!...... EKU!

So there head coach might not be there
He has had a quote "medical episode while at his home"
I feel for him, their team and fans
Our team knows how to be down one guy and I hope they aren't

Take care of business and let the veteran OL beat them up. A heavy dose of Evans and Boone with a few WR fireworks mixed in at the right time. And shut down their QB. That should be the game plan.

Ken, we are fossils. When was the last time your former high school had a competitive team in swimming, tennis, golf, cross country, gymnastics, soccer, lacrosse or hockey? I am SURE it was in the last millennium. Correct me if I am wrong, but I would bet BIG that I am not.
I'm not condoning the behavior of FB or BB athletes, just merely providing an explanation that their environment of origin provides a more predictive outcome of "bad behavior" than a more affluent one.

5 days until kickoff. It's finally here!!
Last year, I believe it was the 1st home game, we had a great student turnout. Hoping their is hype around the campus with this team leading to a large turnout. Would love to see 20k at the game. Will EKU bring a contingent?

Dear Jerry,
I always look forward to your comments. That is because they are spot on. By the way, my high school was torn down several years ago, and as I said it was ancient history. So, you are right about being dinosaurs.

RE: Eastern Michigan vs Eastern Kentucky
A group of parents sponsored a shaved ice truck for the last practice of Camp last night. I had the chance to get there for about the last 45 minutes of practice and was very impressed with what I saw. I also had a chance to chat with some of the players and coaches after the practice.
The first thing I noticed overall was how quick and smooth the team appeared on the field. These guys as a whole have dropped a good deal of excess weight while building strength and agility and it shows. They look big and strong on the field and appear to move so much better than any Eagles team I've seen since Alex has been here. The RB's were coming out of the backfield with speed and agility, and the O-Line was opening holes I could run through. It looks like they could have a decent running game this year.
I was really impressed with what I saw from Taylor Powell. 30-40 yard passes into the endzone dropping into receivers' hands with perfect touch! Good scrambling and throwing accurately on the run. And good news for some on this list...targeting of the TE's for 10-15 yard pops. Overall quite impressive!
Afterward, the coaches and the players seemed really fired up about how the team is coming together this year. One common thread was the lack of any serious injuries to the two-deeps during camp. The coaches were attributing that to the new strength and conditioning coach/program. They repeatedly commented about how good shape the team is in overall.
Granted I only saw a small portion of the practice and everything I saw was in practice mode against the scout team, but I am really fired up by what I saw. I can't wait until Friday!

This is great info, Cid as always. For me, I want to hear what different things we are doing that will get us over the hump and into the top of the MAC consistently.
It sounds to me like the strength and conditioning has been upgraded, recruits being on campus to tour the SAPC are both things that are different and moving us forward.
Fired up for Friday and will have my 2 T.V. set up watching MSU beat WMU and hopefully an EMU win against EKU.

Good stuff. Certain things hold regardless. Losing 25 lbs means losing 25 lbs. That is a good thing for most linemen who have a 'spare tire' around their gut.
As far as a QB, I always say, first look at what he can do in drills or against 2nd string competition. Got to be able to throw those 30 or 40 yard throw (or even 50 yards) even against a scout team. Some QBs don't look good vs. 1st team defense, 2nd team defense or scout team defense. Some simply are not FBS QBs.
I know this data isn't public but I'd love to know for OL and DL: 2021 weight, body fat, etc. Same for 2022. If someone say, player X went from 12 to 9% body fat, I'd think that he is in much better shape. That kind of data is quantifiable and tangible.
That tells me more than a bunch of 'we are all excited about the 2022 season' quotes.
