Great post…. Solid ideas

A 13th Regular Season Game is coming. There’s too much money and too much greed not to. I have seen an idea of moving bowl games to preseason.

6 P5 wins should be the absolute minimum.

I hope they raise the minimum to 7 wins, but I have zero confidence in College Football leaders to do what's right (instead of just grab more money) at this point.

Why is 7 wins "right" and 6 wins "wrong"? These are, after all, just exhibition games.

I remember when UCLA was known for playing a tough OOC schedule.
2019 happened and they took Ls at Cincinnati, home vs SDSU, and got demolished by Oklahoma at home as well.

Did you say that when WKU was in FCS?

Who cares? JMHO now. We have been FBS for fourteen years-- you seem to have the impression we moved up a couple of years ago.

It is ridiculous for the SEC schools to play teams like Gardner-Webb.

I see, so it was ok back in the day for WKU to get their "money games" when they needed them? BUT - now, it's to hell with the FCS schools now that WKU is not one of them...

Lets see, in 2007 WKU played Florida, in 2006 it was Georgia, then in 2005 they played Auburn, in 2004 it was at Kansas St., in 2003 it was at Auburn again, in 2002 Kansas St. again, in 2001 at Wisconsin..

Yeah, WKU got theirs, but to hell with the the current FCS teams.... right?

And not that long ago, they were one of the three schools (+USC, ND) who had never played an FCS school.

G5 is kinda like the middle class--- getting squeezed from both ends.

P5-- upper class
G5-- middle
FCS-- lower

* Of course there are exceptions among each group.

FCS hates us and P5 gives us no respect and crumbs just enough to survive.

But I am proud to lobby for the Group of Five!

I'd love to see my SDSU, the other SDSU (S Dak State) get more G5 games. So would NDSU. They are good pre-season warmups for us, nice, early season win which comes with a check, smaller than P5 check, but still, a check. The Colorado State game last year was an absolute blast.

Once that happens I predict about 6 Big Ten schools will stick with 7 home games every year, hosting 2 G5/FCS schools every year.

6 other schools will switch to 6 home games every year and play 2 M3 schools home and home

6 other schools would alternate playing 6 home games one year, and 7 home games the other year. Playing 1 M3 school home and home, then hosting 1 G5/FCS school every year.

To me, I think if the B1G and SEC want to play 10 conference games (especially if they expand to 18-20 games) and have 7 home games annually, they may push for 13 regular season games for FBS to get 10 conferences games, 2 P5 non-conference games, and 1 cupcake game vs. a G5/FCS school.

I could see three changes eventually being made: the 70 or so teams that are now P5 in a separate subdivision; add a 13th game in Week Zero that must be against either a G5 or FCS opponent as a "shakedown" game to get the preseason kinks out; and keep the standard for bowl eligibility for P5 programs at six wins including week zero wins.

What about December? There's another 4 weeks to play extra games.

Western Kentucky opens with Austin Peay and I think that's absolutely fine.
