Here's some keys - top ranked G5 conference members...

26 Marshall
27 Appy St / Cincinnati
37 Air Force

10 Arkansas

We're right where we want to be in terms of taking the top G5 conference spot. Hopefully, Indiana beats WKY at home Saturday and we play them 3-0. The longer/more Arkansas keeps winning helps us too. That ND win won't turn out so good for Marshall in the end - ND's remaining schedule is just brutal. Appy St lost at home to North Carolina even though that was a huge win in College Station. A lot of football to go but not too shabby as long as we keep winning at a good clip.

RE: Top 25 Polls
Tons of teams ahead of us with loseable games this weekend

13 Miami vs. 24 A&M
16 NC State vs. 2-0 Texas Tech (though they'd likely jump in with a win)
22 Penn State at 2-0 Auburn
25 Oregon facing off against 12 BYU

I think my prediction of us being back in the rankings at 3-1 still wins out.

At this point we need to root for SMU to keep winning and Marshall to stumble. We need that quality win, and right now it looks like Marshall could be the only G5 team who could take that NY6 spot away. SMU beating Maryland and TCU in the next 2 weeks would be huge. Marshall is going to get a bump if they beat App St. later in the season.

Bolded so true. But can we count on any team in the American not named UC to go beat P5 teams? SMU has folded in the big games in conference in recent years.

While I think UC will climb back into the rankings as early as next week with a drubbing of the Redhawks, it's just way too early to try sorting out the G5/NY6 leaders after week two.

RE: Top 25 Polls
We probably are a top 25 team (if Arkansas is 10 we certainly are) but we're in a reasonable spot right now and we get a ton of respect from the polls. Win the next few weeks and we'll be on the move.

RE: Top 25 Polls
You have to imagine Tennessee starts getting beatup in SEC play. We need them and UK to get a few conference losses.

I don't like seeing UK ahead of us in football given that we have some recruiting battles with them.

28 Appy St
31 Cincinnati

We need to really take Indiana to the woodshed on Saturday. That would help make a statement to the voters and get us to 3-1.

Computers love us. Vegas still has us as a top 20 team. Voters are behind because of early loss

It feels like the voters want someone else to take the G5 mantle. I get that Appy St beat TXAM but they really should've had their second loss at home to Troy. The good news is there's a lot of football to play...

I don't have a huge issue with uc's ranking. Uc is probably somewhere between the 15th-25th best team in the country. They'll get there eventually if they play like it. The polls have mostly been good to us under Fickell

Beat IU and climb; thrash IU and make a splash for the pollsters. The Hoosiers get sprinkled with that magic pixie dust wearing that B10 logo on the jersey. It didn't impress Washington yesterday when they took down a ranked MSU from the B10. Here's hoping the Nipp provides the usual lift Saturday.

The AP is the one that matters until the CFP poll comes out.
