Future AAC Schools Starting Lineup Predictions
https://wegiveahoottu.wordpress.com/2022...edictions/
UAB = University Alabama Birmingham (2021-22 27-8)
Projected Starting Lineup:
G Jordan Walker
G Tavin Lovan
G Eric Gaines
F KJ Buffen
C Trey Jemison
Leading scorer Jordan Walker withdrew from the NBA Draft and will return to UAB for the 2022-23 season. UAB has the best basketball program of the six incoming schools and should be able to compete in the AAC in 2023.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Buffen gets bumped to sixth man or Lovan

I expect lovan to come off the bench like last year. He was solid in that Role, especially down the stretch..
I think Ledarrius brewer will start.
Jelly, Gaines, brewer, Buffen, and Jemison

I think Trey's spot in the starting lineup is pretty secure.

AK has rolled with Jemison since day one, even when he frankly hasn't been very good. I doubt he bumps him out of the starting line up now. One of the new guys would have to head and shoulders better than him for that to happen.

I’m curious to see our rotation. We have the talent to do what Houston was doing to us. A solid 10 guys we can sub in and out with very little drop in talent. We’ve been plagued by having a noticeable drop in prior years

I agree. I hope AK plays a bigger rotation this year.

I remember a few times last season where bigs got into foul trouble and we saw leads disappear, this year we have 4-5 legit guys. Also something I though was interesting or maybe I missed him, I didn’t see that pure shooter we got on any of our recent videos we’ve put out. Can’t remember his name, but was from a smaller school

Someone please point to me where Jemison hasn’t been good because I must have missed that season. He has been UAB’s best true post probably since Gabe Kennedy. He isn’t going to be a big scorer. Not his role.

If Rongie shows continued growth and the MSU transfer is healthy, I feel pretty good about the post play. Reducing Jemison’s minutes just a tad I think would make him more effective (less worry about foul trouble, less overall fatigue). Gotta also figure Buffen will be more comfortable this season.

Other than Buffen’s Ts, Jemison was our biggest consistent liability last year. He was constantly in early foul trouble, slow to move his feet into position, gave up too much space under the rim (see LaTech x3), and missed point blank layups. Watch the Twitter post of Gaines a couple weeks ago. Jemison stood there watching so intently, he should have bought a ticket to watch. I know I’ll get bashed for my “opinion” here, so yes…I go to every home game and travel to several road games, last year specifically LaTech and WKU. Rongie outplayed Jemison several times last year, but is green and doesn’t have the experience or size of Jemison.

You’re right.
The only one who will get butthurt by your opinion is one blowhard who thinks he is right all. The. Time.
Jemison is a good shot blocker and rebounder, and his size and athleticism are elite at the CUSA level. He’s very much below average on the offensive side of the ball. He was a 4th year player but only scored 7 points per game, despite being bigger, stronger, and more athletic than the vast majority of our opponents. He has no real offensive post game to speak of outside of a slow, laborious, catch the ball with the back to the basketball, pound a dribble 3 times, turnaround hook shot. He is timid on the offensive end. The few times he does take it up in the post assertively, he usually dunks it home or gets fouled. I really see no discernible development on the offensive end from him from the day he stepped foot at UAB. His game is still very rigid and robotic. He still plays basketball like someone trying to remember the dance moves to a choreographed dance in their head. There’s not much fluidity or natural feel to his game.
Like you said, he also is very foul prone, as is Buffen.
That being said, I’m very glad to have him on the team and he plays a very valuable role. He doesn’t even really need to develop a true post move, if he only took the ball up strongly and assertively, he would be a dominant post player.

RE: Future AAC Schools Starting Lineup Predictions
Lol. Jemison is by far the best post player on the team, by far the best one on the team in quite a while. His limitations are what they are, doesn’t change the overall fact. His foul trouble is partly because of lack of similar quality posts around him, defensively. More bodies and better play by others in the post probably reduces his minute but improves his level of play

Good assessment of Jemisons game. Im glad we have him also but he can be so frustrating to watch. Dude is built like a tank and too often plays like a guy half his size.

RE: Future AAC Schools Starting Lineup Predictions
I think to start the season we see
PG: Jelly
SG: Eric Gaines
SF: Lovan but possibly brewer
PF: Buffen or Brewer
C: Trey
Eventually after a few games you may see some shake up but I don’t see any change from the usual unless the brewers are really good. In an interview today AK seemed very high on Butta
