They’re very similar on the surface.

Ehsan was the wrong hire. He was awful. That coaching search was a sham.

Of course he was the wrong hire if there were better choices. There were not. He was the best pick, by far, of who was made available to choose from. He was then, he would be today, he would be forever among the 3 finalists. Choosing him was easy. Firing him at a reasonable time, when AK was available and boosters could kick in, was an easier call.

They aren’t similar, even on the surface. Ehsan wasn’t interim audition and there was no opportiiitu to evaluate in advance how he would run the program or manage games or recruit the roster as a head coach. Ehsan was hired at a time our major boosters had just committed $50 million to restore football and we’re going to be asked to kick in on facilities. There wasn’t going to be a big name on the list because of that and AK wasn’t yet available to give the alumni discount.

It is a much different financial climate today.

It is silly go goin into it disqualifying Vincent simply because basketball assistant didn’t work out.

Vincent will do a good job and keep the job or he won’t do a good job and won’t. UAB’s experience with Ehsan shouldn’t even be part of the conversation.

You are putting words in my mouth yet again.

I have never disqualified Vincent. I've said he's looked and spoken the part of a good HC very well so far. The only things I've said otherwise was this situation and the Ehsan situation are similar (and they are, no matter what you say), and that he needs to absolutely prove it on the field before he is given the HC position.

Personally, I don't think Ingram should have announced he was going to do a national search for a couple of reasons:

1. It gives the appearance Vincent is not being considered as a serious candidate for the job.

2. It isn't necessary. If the next coach isn't Vincent it will be either an assistant or retread HC from a P5 program or an FCS coach.

I honestly don't understand why you think these situations are similar. The only common thread these situations share is that both coaches were assistants and that's pretty much it. A coaching search was done after Haase left and UAB hired Eshan. He never had an interim tag placed on him. That within itself makes this different than Vincent's situation.

But that's your opinion and you're entitled to it. We're still Blazers fans so go UAB!

I know he was at a Prattville game a few weeks ago.
