RE: Russ Pennell-MBB Assistant
Yeah, I'm mixed on this. He's got a wealth of experience and having an assistant who was a D1, D2, and temporary WNBA head coach is a plus. Winning 18 games at Central Arkansas is a legitimate achievement, because that program is one of the more difficult places to win in D1.
I'll be honest, I can't really tell what his defensive chops are from looking at his resume. Central Arkansas was slightly worse defensively once he got there, but it's hard to tell whether that was down to personnel departures or his coaching. They've been one of the worst defensive teams in the two years since he's left. All in all, I'm sure there are worse hires. Good to get a veteran alongside Green and Powell. Hopefully he gels with the current team and ends up being a good addition...for our sake and for Pera's.

The man coached the legendary Bryant "Big Country" Reeves, so he's all good with me
