How is this possible? Who is making the decisions if there is no coach? The AD? Why would a player go to a school when they don't know who the coach will be, unless they have no other offers?
There is no head coach, but a couple of assistants were retained I believe.
Yes, the assistants are still managing things with the program, and as strange as it may be to some, some kids still pick where to go for the school and not the coach, especially in the non-rev sports.

How long does it take to hire a soccer coach?

Rockets decided to hire a super hero as the new soccer coach, in Mark Batman.
19 year HC at DIII Ohio Northern, with a 253-91-40 record, and multiple sweet sixteen and 1 elite eight appearance in the DIII tourney. Impressive at the DIII level, but will have to see if that translates to DI.

RE: UT Soccer 2022
As long as they took to hire him, he must be the next Pele. Really surprised the new AD didn't hire a woman to coach a women's sport. Weren't there any Big Ten assistants?
As I think about this more, it's a terrible hire. A guy going from DIII to DI should be winning national championships to make that move. His roster is almost all Ohio players. How is he going to recruit nationally with no experience? I'd like to see the list of applicants, but you'd probably have to sue UT for that.

RE: UT Soccer 2022
Given what happened with past coaches, hiring a guy named Batman is kind of fitting I guess.
Had a lot of success down divisions, seems like a solid hire.

Ehhh...is it though? Women's soccer is going to be operating on shoestrings here shortly, and he has built a winning program somewhere that doesn't offer scholarships at all...one would have to think coaching translates. As to the recruiting, the soccer team has had like 5 people from outside of 200 miles play for us under the last coach, and all but one of them were directly connected to a single club team in southern California, so it's not like we recruit nationally or anything either.

Everything is on a shoestring. Make that a minus shoestring since all of our sports lose money and are losing more University funding as the years pass.

One could look to BG basketball for a comparison. That coach has an awful record but the program is in a far better place than it was. She coached at a small school and was hugely successful there and is starting to look like a good hire. For what we pay soccer coaches we’ll get our moneys’ worth just from marketing around the celebrity angle.

Was really hoping we would hire a woman to coach the women’s team. The D3 success doesn’t move the needle at all for me. Hope he has success here and runs a clean program.

Rockets officially introduced coach Batman (apparently it's pronounced "Batmen") at a press conference last week. Story on the website has a link to the press conference video. Didn't really learn much of anything about his plans or style or anything really. Said he has two assistants selected, but those were not announced. Implied that most of the current players are staying. I did see one transfer announced on twitter - Brittney Probst appears to be transferring to Acquinas.

At his previous school his assistant coach was a former UT soccer player.

RE: UT Soccer 2022
Soccer announced a boatload of signings this week, 9 in all I think, all HS recruits mostly from Ohio, but 2 from Georgia and 1 each from Michigan and Illinois. Surprised there are no transfers in the list, at least not so far. Also, don't know how many players are sticking around for the new coach. I saw at least 1 transfer out, but there could have been more.
No clue how good any of these signees are, given the late recruiting process with the new coach. I'd really like to see UT get back to signing a few international players, but I don't know if this coach has those contacts or not. The team is gonna be a mystery until we see them play in the fall.

Soccer has been like a black hole since the new coach arrived. No information on anything. Didn't like the hire. Hope I'm wrong.

RE: UT Soccer 2022
Isabella Echeverri is really making a name for herself. First she was named FIFPRO's Union & Player Relations Coordinator. Apparently FIFPRO is basically the international union for professional soccer players.
https://fifpro.org/en/who-we-are/our-org...ollective/
And, she spoke this week at the United Nation's Counter-Terrorism Week at an event on "Role of Youth in Preventing Violent Extremism Through Sport". See video in the link:
https://theglobalherald.com/news/colombi...rism-week/
I knew she has done a lot for improving the playing conditions and compensation for women players in her home country of Colombia - and that cost her a position on the national team - but she seems to have risen far above that level. Very impressive young lady.
