He’s also officially “interim” head coach. It makes sense as a national search would’ve been rushed and a lot of the top candidates within the college ranks don’t want to make this big of a change this late in the summer. Really you can think of this as a “show me” year, if successful it’s his job and if not then they’ll do a real search.

Also, is it at all possible for a major college coaching job to open up and not have Nate Leaman listed as the early favorite for the job?
