RE: 22-23 MBB Schedule
I'm not really sure it's much different than the last two.
20-21 -- at Incarnate Word, Our Lady of the Lake, LeTourneau, at HBU, at UH (PPD), New Mexico (which was a late add due to Covid IIRC), HBU, at SHSU, UNO, Incarnate Word (PPD), Our Lady of the Lake a 2nd time
21-22 -- Pepperdine, at Houston, Southern, at UNO, the Gulf Coast tournament, Texas State, Jarvis Christian, at HBU, Incarnate Word, St. Thomas (PPD), at Texas (PPD), Jarvis Christian a 2nd time
The big difference between this year and the last two is we now have 20 conference games (up from 18), and with Marshall, USM and ODU gone, we will play every conference team twice. There will be three RPI drags within conference (UTSA, FIU and then Rice unless we're a lot better than people realize), but the other 7 conference teams will be solid in RPI. So that's 14 good conference RPI games compared to maybe 8-10 in the past?
If you want to say it's an embarrassing non-conference schedule, go ahead, I won't argue. But it's hard to say it's the worst overall schedule in 5-10 years when the conference is shaping up to be decent. Western Kentucky had some big transfer gets/keeps the past month. And UAB could be the best CUSA team in a decade?
The one thing I don't understand is we used to make an effort years ago to play a home game for a senior from out of state his final year. We have played plenty of Florida games so I get not doing that for Fiedler this year, but why not a game in Atlanta for Quincy or Massachusetts for Travis?
