Your team's players to watch
I'm guessing most of these will be pretty obvious, but if you were chatting with a neutral friend (say a fan of a P5 team) about your upcoming game, who is the one offensive and one defensive player you tell them to keep an eye on?

For Tech I think it's the obvious Smoke Harris and Tyler Grubbs.

RE: Your team's players to watch
This one can be answered in many ways, depending upon what you mean by "watch"...i.e. Pro potential, break-out year, difference-maker, etc.

But just from my perspective, WKU's QB will be the one to watch for me on the Hlltopper gridiron. Can you imagine being the guy that follows Zappe, the NCAA record-breaking QB from last year? Man, that's some big shoes to fill and a ton of pressure (real and perceived).

On first down, anybody…or nobody.

On Second down, nobody…or anybody.

On third down, all of the wide receivers.

On fourth down, the long snapper.

RE: Your team's players to watch
Well, one of the players I was looking forward to watching for UTSA was RB De'Anthony Lewis. He was the highest rated RB we've ever recruited out of high school, higher than Sincere McCormick. Lewis redshirted last season, but hurt himself during training camp in the past week, will need surgery, and will miss the entire season.

We're still deep at that position and still have a crew of about 3 or 4 solid running backs regardless, but I had been waiting to see him play since last year.

Your team's players to watch
Luke McCaffrey, Rice WR.

Switching from QB.

All reports are that this is his natural position.

Very good WR group overall, too.

UTEP's 2 running backs, Awatt and Hankins. Both on the Doak Walker Award watch list. Awatt is also on the watch list for the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award announced today, Aug 9.

UAB has 2 rb's on that list too.

On defense it's Amaewhule on the DL. He is on the Chuck Bednarik Award watch list and the Bronko Nagurski Trophy watch list.

I wish the coach would treat every down as third down. But I expect to see runs up the middle on first and second, as the defense expects, so we will only see the passing game on third and long.

Thus my earlier post.

RE: Your team's players to watch
I know we aren't quite in CUSA yet, but for NMSU I would submit position groups to follow. There is a lot that we need to develop offensively, but I think the RB group is going to be a strength going forward. Defensively, I think our strength is going to be our LB corp, led by Chris Ojoh and Trevor Brohard.

Groups we need to see some development from to really has success offensively is the QB spot, and OL. Defensively, we seem to always be so thin on the defensive front it becomes difficult to stop people late in games. Those are the positions that I hope to see some development in this year.

GO AGGIES!!!

We expect more of the same. I am nervous about Vincent in game, but nothing will alleviate that until I see him actually call some games. If Hopkins can play like he did against UTSA and BYU for an entire season, we will be damn tough to beat.

Our defense and run game should be insane. Just like you said QB play will determine if we are a 8 win solid team or 10 win conference champs
