A rather big example of the shift of on-the-air programming
https://variety.com/2022/tv/news/days-of...235332767/

Sooo, NBC just put Days of our lives - a daily, scripted show that's been airing on the network since 1965 - onto its streaming service, Peacock.

And replaced it with a live news program.

Another example of "scripted" to streaming, and "unscripted" to broadcasting on-the-air.

Serious ramifications for sports.

The current fight over the B10's product must be fierce.

Wow. That is huge. Of course, maybe the stars are dying off. Most of the people who were on it 30 years ago when my wife watched it regularly still seem to be on it.04-cheers

There are Days of Our Lives superfans who live their lives running websites documenting every episode, every character, and every subplot in the show's 60-year history. That's insane to me.

My wife watched that show religiously from when she was a girl up until a couple of years ago. It just got too stupid for her.

I know NBC has been looking at canceling that show for the last few years now. The demographics have to be older, but scripted shows are moving to streaming. Perhaps Peacock gives Days a new lease on life.

But as for sports, the value of live linear programming in a streaming world only increases. You can't fast forward through a commercial during a football game.

Just now? Must be really bad. People in other people's bodies, total mind control. All that stuff happened 30 years ago.

One of the great examples. This one girl, the mom (Marleena I think) says, "My how you have grown." Think she went from maybe 6 to 17 in one episode.

My mom watched this about 20 years ago. I remember there being a "serial killer" where all the people killed off ended up in a dead-people town no one knew existed, and the "serial killer" was revealed to be Marlena. I vividly recall my mom audibly gasping at this reveal and falling over in her chair. This show was so ridiculous. 03-lmfao

What if I told you about a message board poster who catalogued every online or on-air mention (documented or not) of schools (no matter how obscure) who might be considering a move to Division I?

Somewhere, there's a Days of Our Lives message board where they're going "imagine those college sports realignment kooks that spend their whole lives documenting decades-old mentions of every school considering D1"

Well, I don't do either of those, but *cough* we all have our hobbies...

(goes back to reading my comic books : )

Several people beat me to this joke, but...

There are college football superfans who live their lives running websites documenting every team, every player, and every season in the school's history. That's insane to me.

Sadly, I laughed from the bizarre irony after reading numerous posts about this on Deadline.com.

Dozens of posters claimed they don't have access to Peacock, yet are giving their comment/thoughts over the internet.

Or a move to Division 2 or 3 or NAIA, or considering which intramural league its Quiddich team should be in.

No one expected Electra Woman to be a killer.

The Harry Potter club Quidditch team at TCNJ is a bunch of kickassers. They should definitely be getting an invite for the World Cup play-ins.

But will playing in a league with Rider and Thomas Edison State give them the SOS they need if they lose the Conference tournament?

Ok, I'll admit it, this post made me smile : )

That said, it could be a regional thing. Some streaming services are not available in certain parts of the world.

I also wonder if it will be on their "free" tier (ad supported).

Perhaps I should say she realized too late that it was too stupid. FWIW, she thought the mind control storyline was way over the top even then.

Once they killed Bo Brady off, it was downhill from there.
