Wow, looking at these rankings suggests Texas is a poor place for ladies golf. Some of those individual scores suggests layouts might be quite different in different parts of the country. Average scores of 63 and 65 are astonishing.

I was actually surprised I didn't see more Western schools. There were a few, but seeing how big golf is in California and Arizona at least I thought there would be more. My HS, in Chandler AZ, didn't have women's golf at the time but with the increased popularity I thought it would come. Florida didn't surprise me. I knew golf was big in some of the other Southern states, especially Georgia. Still, it seemed the South in general had a lot, with other regions scattered around.

I have heard, from many people, that many women’s golf scholarships go unused.

Just not enough candidates to utilize them?

That’s what I’ve heard.

Chandler, Basha or Hamilton?

My high school, in Snowflake, AZ didn’t have woman’s golf either. Not surprising since there were no golf courses in Snowflake.

When I was there, Chandler was the only public HS. There was the Catholic HS down the road. That's when the city was nicknamed Planet Chandler by some.

RE: ACU Adds Women’s Golf
Y’all had me curious, so I looked at the UTA roster. We have two foreign born players, one that graduated from a Texas school and one that transferred from another DI school. Three players are from DFW, one from San Antonio (the foreign born, Texas graduate was also from S.A.) and one in Far East Texas. It looks like if DFW can pump talent, we will be successful.

I looked at Tarleton’s roster from last year and the two signees for this year. On last years roster, there were five foreign born and two from Texas, with only from one from the DFW metroplex. Of the two signees, one is from Spain and one from Coppers Cove via Mississippi State.

RE: ACU Adds Women’s Golf
If the norm remains, my guess is a lot of South Koreans are going to get golf scholarships. Those young ladies have a completely different training approach than in the States.
