Big 12 reporters confirmed it, but the PAC 12 writers had different numbers between $30 million to $35 million per school a year for Pac 12. Oregon, Washington, Utah, Arizona State and Stanford are still the hot products left in PAC 12. Big 10 only got two of the weaker schools from the PAC 12.

Scheer is the one who is the joke of a reporter spewing lies in favor of Arizona going to the Big 12. The other PAC 12 reporters from Arizona State, Colorado and Utah are basically calling Scheer full of sh*t.

Hold it, USC and UCLA are two "weaker" schools from the PAC 12? Is that why the value of the league plummeted on the announced departure? And the low numbers were reported by one of the PAC three shortly after negotiations began. The article, possibly Milner, stated this was why the PAC were opening the talks up to outside parties and were looking at streaming.

Dude in WV it seems a lot.

Reports are saying that Colorado, Arizona State and Utah wants to stay and keep the PAC 12 together, but you have Big 12 people trolling those schools trying to cause issues.

"Big 12 people", the people trolling CU are former athletes and boosters who would like to see the program be relevant again. I've said it before, in Colorado the move to the PAC by CU is largely seen as a huge failure. The glory days are long gone, and they will never come back. Most see the PAC eventually becoming a G5 league

LOL. And Glory days would appear in the Little 12?

If the Pac-10 is a G5 league, what does that make the Little 12? FCS?

"Most see the PAC eventually becoming a G5 league"... Must not teach reading comprehension at Northern Arizona.

If WA, Oregon and Stanford, or two of the three get poached, yes, it becomes MWC west. And yes, much of the pressure being put on CU from inside the state, is coming from those who want CU to get out of the PAC before it CU is on the same level as CSU.

I can read and comprehend just fine...

If, and if. Lots of suppositions. Pac 10 will be just fine. None of the schools other than maybe Stanford if Notre Dame wanted provide enough value.

Moving to the Big 12 provides no value.

No. I am convinced I have no idea what will happen. :) I do think Notre Dame absolutely wants to maintain their independence, but it remains to be seen whether they feel they can.

This feels different to me due to the lack of strong statements from Swarbrick. In fact, he actually stated that finances were another reason they might join a conference at some point. The fact that we are still waiting on the BIG media deal, that NBC is involved in negotiations, etc. leaves open the possibility but I don't have a clue as to how it will end up Pete.

I think its inevitable ND must join the Big 10. Seems like the smart thing to do would be to go ahead and pull the trigger (unless of course NBC offers them more than they would get in the Big 10).

Imo Swarbrick got exactly what he wanted with his bemoaning it was a P2 orbit and alluding to a change- leverage.

A shakedown of ESPN? I don’t think ND cares about helping the ACC, but ND will either end up paid at a P2 level in its current alignment, or ESPN and NBC both have issues.

As long as Swarbrick is on the same page as SEC, which they normally have been, ND doesn’t need to give up independence.

Maybe it’s ESPN spending on ACC the conference and NBC paying up. Maybe it’s ESPN creating a ND friendly division in the SEC by adding 6-8 ACC schools. Which would be done in unison with ND flaming Fox into looking into ACC schools (to get ND), getting espn motivated to act.

Why would ND give up independence if they can get close to P2 money and have sec protecting their playoff access?

In terms of macros, espn having ND side with 24 school SEC is worth a lot in leveraging control, even if they don’t have their tv rights. Is ESPN above buying simply allegiance

It doesn't have to be more or even the same amount.

It just has to be "enough" to stay independent.

ND has left tens of millions of TV dollars a year on the table.

(Doesn't line up with the "ND is greedy" mantra, does it?)

ND just doesn't want to stick its football program in a conference, any conference, and will hold out if it can.

This time may be no different than previous ones. We shall see.

I agree with you Terry and it might not be any different than previous attempts by the BIG. There is just a different vibe in the air this time. Who knows? I also fully expect Notre Dame would stay independent as long as NBC got "close enough", whatever that means to them. And for the record, I don't think ND is greedy but just doing their job and following their values. (That's a lot for a Michigan man to admit!!!) I would love to see them in the BIG and think that is still a possibility is all I'm saying.

Time to invite SDSU and SMU. If Stanford is out, add a Rice to backfill. If they don't want Texas, go for UH/Zaga. Everyone comes in at 1/3 or 1/2 shares to not insult those schools too badly.

It would be interesting to see how the MWC and AAC react. That will give us some juice on these boards for quite some time.

They can't stay at 10 with SDSU on the board, unless SDSU plays hardball.

ND will never have a reason to come though. The Conferences will always placate to them and a network will always overpay regardless of ratings/value. They have their own vote on important matters now, who in their right mind would allow that?

Other way around. Every time the B12 loses two more valuable members, it gets obsessed with raiding another P5 conference and makes a pest of itself. The ACC once got this treatment, now the PAC does.

The story always ends the same way. After much talk the B12 goes home empty- handed and interviews G5 schools off the discount rack. 'We sure scared 'em, though, didn't we?!'

And underlining that "if it can" means so long as it believes there is a route to a national championship for ND playing as an independent.

Its decisions to date have shown that the money piece is not the MOST money available ... and in line with the above, IMHO it means "enough" money to be able to remain competitive on the field.
